dude! Thank you. I really dig it. I know it’s not really like a full bull bar. But is it pretty sturdy? I don’t plan on off roading or anything extreme. I like the look and also want to kinda intimidate people from parking too close to me with a bar in the front. Will this do that? Or even protect a little?

Those styles of bars do not offer much protection in the event of an actual crash. However, I would imagine that some clown with a stanced car will probably not park so close to you that you can't get your door open. Plus they look good and they provide excellent mounting points for lights and quite a few of them have winch plates and such as well. It's definitely a good look, especially if you're not going to be off-roading heavy

It seems that RevTek doesn’t supply these lightbars anymore. Other brands do but I don’t see any pictures installed on tacomas.

Mine is around 3” and I hear a very slight hum…..hum….hum vibration between 28 to 38 mph. A very low vibrating hum that does a not change with speed. When i engage 4 wheel it stops immediately. I feel that it is coming from the from the front drive shaft rotating while in 2 WD ? Thoughts ?

If it goes away with four-wheel high engaged, it's your front needle bearing. You'll have to pull the CV axle and replace the bearing with a solid one, probably from east coast gear supply

Thanks form the info. Seems simple enough. Will it wear and cause damage over time? Do you advise I remedy immediately ?

I mean, what eventually happens is the needle bearing breaks apart and you get a bunch of metal splinters and pieces inside your front differential. Won't hurt anything until you try to use four-wheel drive... Then it can blow up or lock up your diff.

Old guy going to throw my $.02 in the ring.
I've done a fair amount of suspension work over the last 40+ years and I've fixed more than one adjustable coil over super duper awesome kit.
That being said. Most guys just want it to look cool. Let's face it that's why you bought it in the first place, she looks sexy and she'll look even better with bigger boobs and... um... sorry bigger tires and a bad ass lift kit plus chicks really like it too. Just understand when you start changing driveline angles and suspension geometry things are going to go wrong and cost $$$ to make it right or just put it back to stock.

Now once, I get this new DV8* front bumper on with my 20" light bar I think I'll look into a 3" lift with some new struts and shocks.

How come no one has mentioned all the Alignment spec posts seem to show bad rear thrust angle? Rear Toe .34 LR. -.32 RR. Equals your rear end is crooked /. Might want to fix that issue
since all the front angles are based on the rear. Just saying.

DV8 stuff weighted like 3 tonnes. Good luck.

Because there's no such thing as a rear alignment with a solid axle. Best you can do is get out the square and a laser level when you do your u-bolt flip kit and hope for the best.

I seem to recall a wedge kit for the rear end on Ford Explorers to correct thrust angle issues. I will see if I can find it. Yep here we go.

    That's an interesting kit.

Of course you would have to install it on an alignment rack so you could run the laser levels and get live numbers.

Yes. Specialty Products got their start making cosmo shims for the straight axle 4x4's back in the day.

Now I just have to figure out how to hoist this damn bumper into place by myself. :benchpress:

For the rear bumper, I always parked over a curb and then propped the bumper on my knees and brought my legs into lift the bumper until I could get a bolt of two to hold it. I don't recommend that route, but it does work. As far as the front bumper goes... Jack stands and friends are nice. And if you don't have either well... Lift one side. Run a dowel pin or something through a bolt hole just to hold it. Lift the other side. Run your real bolts. Go back to the first side. Run those bolts. Obviously you don't tighten anything till every bolt is in yada yada yada lol
