I went to have a procomp 3/1 level lift installed the other day (3" front Coil over and 1" rear block, im going for looks not off road prowess) and have some 285 70 17's added to my stock Sport rims. just before they were about to start they told me they found out that they cant put bigger tires on my stock rims because any size over stock will make the tire rub the UCA. has any one else found this? they said i must buy some new rims that are offset.
    Any info will help.

I had to change mines to aftermarket rims. But, most guys are getting around $1000 for the stock rims and tires so you can buy a nice set of aftermarket rims for that.

so im at a cross roads, i want to add 3 inches of suspension lift to my 3rd gen ORDC that i just bought yesterday possibly 1 inch of body lift. im looking at the Toytec boss set up and the icon stage 2. I can get the whole boss set up with resis and total chaos UCAs for the same price as icons set up without UCAs. however i have seen videos of the boss shocks snapping add ive seen post stating icon only added 1.75' to their 3rd gen . im not going to be doing insane crawling or jumping but i do enjoy drifting around trails and climbing hills and stuff occasionally to get into fun places to ride my dirt bike. Are the Toytecs going to be a good way to go? an i realisticly clear the 305/70/17s that i have sitting in my garage? and how difficult is it to instal one inch of body lift? will i need to mess with the transmission so i can put into gear?? this is my first time trying to order and instal my own lift to i need some help . heres the new truck btw! my wife is pretending shes stressed haha 20151218_134003.jpg 20151218_134053.jpg 20151219_094216.jpg thanks in advance guys.

I installed The Procomp 3/1 leveling kit on mine and it worked great

MaxxTRD Doing a 1" body lift is pretty easy. The last one I did was on my 03 Tacoma. I did the bed first, lined it up and torqued it down.. Then I did the cab one side at a time IIRC.. There may be a steering spacer also... With a 1" body lift, your bumpers will be 1" lower than the truck when done. FYI if you plan to keep stock bumpers.. I've used ICON/Donahoe's , Camburg's and both were great (Stiff though) but necessary to hold up an ARB & winch w/33x12.50's.. Good luck..

Would you guys recommend the Boss 2.5 or the Icon Stage 2 for 2016 Tacoma for mild off-roading, mainly on road use? Comparing the two from Toytecs Website. Any recommendations ?

I picked up my 2016 TRD OR AC today and was talking with one of the "accessories" salesmen about doing a lift (probably won't go through the dealership for this, but thought I would hear what he had to say). He said that if I lift the truck within the first ~500 miles, there is a good chance that the issue with the needle bearings wouldn't happen - because after 500-ish miles, they tend to "wear-in" at the current angles. Adding a lift changes those angles and if the bearings have already "worn-in", I might see issues with them. He recommended installing new bearings when I do the lift.

    Any opinions on this?

Not sure what you mean by "either way" - I'm talking about "wearing in" the bearings at factory angles, then changing the angles with a lift. Sounds like good logic to me, but not sure if it is true.

3" Toytec lift with UCAs and AAL, Goodyear Duratrac 285/75r16 on 16x8.5 MB Wheels, RPMFAB steel rock sliders, RCI aluminum skids, Pelfreybilt Aluminum Winch Bumper with Smittybilt X2O winch, Yaesu FT-8800R dual band ham radio, Mobilnkd bluetooth TNC for APRS
I went with ToyTec's Boss kit as it included UCAs for less than the Icon Stage 2 kit and my low speed desert crawling doesn't need remote reservoir shocks.
