Not quite. The centric portion of the definition refers to the wheel design & vehicle hub, versus the lug nut. Hub centric wheel has a machined center bore portion on the inside of the wheel that sits on the protrusion of the hub, the lip on the hub that sticks out past the flat mating surface of the remainder of the wheel hub diameter. The mating of the machined wheel hub, matches the vehicle's hub keeping the wheel centered. This is also the area where some corrosion occurs, and the wheel gets stuck on the hub.

Since the hub centering diameter varies between vehicle manufacturers, this means then aftermarket wheels that are hub centric are often unique to the make of vehicle.
After market wheels that use their lug attachment point to center the wheel on the hub, can fit a greater range of vehicle makes with the same lug spacing. Their lug holes have a taper in them to match a tapered, lugcentric nut.

Correct lugnut is therefore required based on the wheel design.

Lug nuts can be recognized by the following: All nuts fit over the stud and into the wheel.
Lugcentric nuts will have a distinct taper, (ie used with steel wheels often) along the full length of the nut engaging the wheel.
Hub Centric will have a flat face, often with a washer, and square shoulder with a very slight taper at the end of the nut.

I did it too. I put my FJ wheels on without even researching lugs first.

Those will work fine. They have a tapered end. But a simple acorn lug nut is your best bet....as far as looks.

These take a mag seat lug. The lug has a shank that goes into the wheel.

not sure if someone mentioned this but the OEM lugs you have are for the steel OEM rims which I’m assuming come stock on the SRs. The other OEM lugs people are referring to are the OEM lugs that come with the alloy OR or sport rims.

Its because the steel wheeled SR trucks come with good ole fashion acorn style lugs. When I got TRD PRO wheels during that crazy sale they had a while back, I had to order the mag style lugs too. I keep 6 original ones in my center console because I wasnt too sure about mounting the spare with them, but apparently you can use the mag wheel lugs on the spare due to the bottom being tapered. I didnt even notice, back to the tool box those go!

I’ve seen this in my 2010 when I put level 8 mk6 with a zero offset on. I got gorilla lugs With them and I was only able to spin on one or two spins and they were tight but almost no thread engagement, I purchased longer studs and that solved the problem. Not a terrible job and not too expensive.

Yes you can. We OR and Sport people would be in trouble if that weren't the case. We all have steel spare wheels.

I’ll have to reread this thread to try to understand better, I was just relaying a similar situation.

It sure will. With mag seat lugs the lug shank goes into the wheel and threads on to the studs.

It's all good. OP went from an OEM steel wheel with acorn style lug nuts to an OEM alloy wheel. The alloy has a much thicker hat and requires the OEM shank nut that protrudes into the lug well engaging the threads, as well as having a washer to distribute the load evenly over the wheel hat.

So when I head over to my local dealer and grab those OEM lugs, is shank nut/mag seat lug the correct terminology?

Yep, just say you need oem mag seat lug nuts.

I went in looking for leaf pack center pins....they told me they don't exist separately. Go to fastenal o_O.
Ended up picking up a set closer to my house at a off road store.

Completely different scenario but I believe it was on the late 2000's Mercedes ML's, they actually had spare specific lug bolts (German cars using bolts vs nuts) and if you installed the spare with the alloy wheel lug bolts, it would tear all sorts of shit up... hah anything is possible these days

Ya TRD wheels typically require a specific TRD lug nut that you order extra...

When I ordered my old TRD Wheels their was an * that said it required the TRD lug nuts to fit.
