Trust me after an hour or two in the heat it is not fun.

If you must know, get the appropriate degree, get 5 plus years of experience, apply for the job, out compete the 100 other applicants, and then your new boss will make the appointments for you.

Also to electrostimulate you poke a hole in your waders so the current gets through. It doesn't feel good actually.

Hello fellas! Sorry for the late response on saying hello. Thanks to @Superdave1.0 and jay for the install of my icon 2.5 coilovers with resi, camburg UCAs and my leaf pack with icon AAL. These guys are awesome and good dudes! I recommend getting your taco suspension done with these guys! Very knowledgeable and hard working guys. Thanks again guys for the install and your time! I noticed some of you guys said something about my preload on the icon? I bought them used and just got them rebuilt at DC shocks in san Dimas and they never said anything about them being to much preload so I thought they were ok from previous owner. What do you guys recommend in height and do I just measure this area?

Hey Dan - Welcome to Whatever. Yup, @Superdave1.0 and @JaCado are good people. Good for you for not getting upset about the preload comments. Its all in fun.

You might already know this but I will preface my response with this just incase. Adding more preload increases the height of your lift. However, it compresses the springs and stiffens up your suspension. The more they are compressed the less spring that is available to compress and cushion your ride as it goes over bumps. The less preload you have the more cushioning you will have over bumps and use you will get out of your expensive shocks that are within the coilover.

My guess is the shop didn't mention it because their customer had it at their desired preload for their truck (i.e., you). They just rebuilt the shocks that are part of the coilover. I also suspect the previous owner added more preload for looks or out of necessity to clear larger tires. They did not come that way. You can see where they are chewed up a bit from the spanner wrench or punch that was used to turn them and add preload.

If you have enough clearance above your tires and want to increase ride quality you should remove a lot of that preload. If you like the look/height and don't mind the stiffer ride than who cares (might not know what your missing though in ride quality). It looks like you have 20+ threads showing. On my rig, I have less than 5 threads showing. So a big difference. The higher you push your truck the more extreme your CV angles get also. Higher likelihood of tearing a CV boot as a result. On my first set of coilovers I added a lot of preload after installing them because i was less experienced and wanted more lift from an aesthetics standpoint, quickly tore CV boots as a result. Removed that preload after that.

If you choose to do it. Aquire the Icon spanner wrench or punch. Use an Allen wrench to unlock the locking nut (the locking nut is visible in your photo) then turn it the right way over and over and over. Then relock the locking nut with the alken wrench. Repeat on opposite side. Personally, I would remove a lot of preload if that was my truck. However, it is your truck and you should consider what matters more to you, looks or ride quality.

Others can chime in. I think @McRib commented on it? I'm sure my explanation has some inaccuracies in it and a suspension guru could provide a better explanation but i believe it covers the jist of the topic.

For example, here is mine now.

Thank you for replying and giving some knowledge on these Coilovers as they’re my first Coilovers I’ve bought for any truck I’ve had. I would like to take it down some to get better ride out of it as I didn’t feel a big difference in taking the truck home but it was not aligned and all highway. When I got home I noticed the cdcv valve clickers were all the way down to soft and still didn’t feel a big difference on the highway. What size tires can I fit with my setup if I adjust the preload to about that 5th thread?

I would start with adjusting your preload and for highway/around town I would run your clicker all the way stiff (that is what I do) or close to that. Then when you go offroad experiment with the clicker and go softer depending on terrain.

Per the question about tire size, that is opening a big can of worms. It really depends on your truck and setup. I believe stock tire size is 30.5 or 30.6" for most 2013 models. I dont know what the Baja Edition is honestly. So you can look to add an inch or so PROBABLY with your current setup. A lot of people go to 33" tires, but almost if not all people have to do the cab mount chop and pinch weld folding at the least. So, my recommedation is you start reading all the threads dedicated to the topic and after reading if you have questions then ask in those threads. So many variables at hand. Big one being if you are keeping stock wheels or getting aftermarket wheels (not tires) for your new tires. Wheels have different backspacing/offsets that change the liklihood of rubbibing/amount you must clear for. In short, if thinking 33s, you must be prepared to cut into your truck (or pay others to do it) so they can clear. It might be best, to get a good all terrain tire at your current size or just a wee bit bigger. A lot to consider, research, and decide upon.

definitely will read up more on what fits on my new lift. I was reading on some people running 285/70/17 without a chop, I’m currently on 265/70/17 and method rims so let’s see what more info I can find on those 285’s. My baja came with 285/70/16 but I bought the truck used last year at a dealership and they already had those rims and tires on them. I will mess with the clickers once I get the tires and alignment done this week out on some trails. I appreciate your help on some of these unknowns for me
