I’ve worked the last 8 nights. I came home last night because they some how had an extra nurse. I go back Monday night. I’m sleep deprived and getting migraines. I miss my family. We lost three in one night last week, a few other throughout the week. No time to decompress and regroup. Im having a tough time right now.

I agree with the above posts. I feel really sorry for the kids these days. they can't do any of the things we did as teens without the risk of serious trouble with the law. Hell even in New Orleans in 1973 we had a place to go camping by the inter coastal water ways. There was an area of about 20-30 acres that we'd go camping in. Worst part was the mosquitos. we had to have netting put up over our sleeping bags. Late at night you could wake up and turn on your flashlight, there would be most likely several hundred hungry buggers all over that netting trying to figure a way in. Same thing in Mississippi, we had Acres of Woods to explore and go camping. We didn't have any tents back then and just slept on the ground with sleeping bags or just a blanket. We even dug a large whole in the ground and covered it with "pilfered" material for a roof. We could sleep about 4 people in there and be comfortable. Later in Hight School in South Texas, again we had many places to go and hang out in the woods to camp, shoot .22 rifles or shotguns. Now days there's no place for them to go, unless they have a car or truck and can get to the game lands here in N.C. Most property now is posted with no tress passing signs.

The shit we got away with during the late 60's and 70's boggles my mind when I think back on it. If you did some of those same things today, you'd wind up in jail, shot and killed, or in some detention center for minors. How many of you older folks remember raiding some water melon patch late at night and being chased off by the farmer with a shotgun full of rock salt. We were wild and crazy, and were allowed to sow our "Wild Oats", so long as we didn't break any serious laws. I didn't really break any laws until I was in high school, and I blame most of that shit on my older brother. Stealing beer from our parents, first time getting drunk and puking your guts out. Mardi Gras 1973, they would sell bottles of boones farm out of the back of pickup trucks, just pay your money, no questions asked. That shit would give you one hell of a hang over. The good ole days, gone but not forgotten.

You need a vacation, or at least some serious down time to relax, unwind, and as you put it regroup. Otherwise you become too stressed out.

hearing certain songs makes me “feel” the times again. Does that happen to others or is it just another gift that I should be grateful for?

Morning. Don’t go back to work till Thursday, possibly Friday, depending on how I feel whether I want to extend my mini vacation or not.

edit: due to the holiday my shitty Wednesday’s work will be on Thursday so I’m not too interested in that noise so I’ll pass that to someone else.
Maybe. I’m afraid that they will put the wrong person on it and completely screw it up.

Small town cops back in the day exercised their discretion
They saw youthful hi-jinks for what they were.

I feel sorry for kids today too.

Man oh man, when I think of some of the shit I did...
