    I've always wondered about that. They're building some new homes in my hood and my neighbor thinks that's great because our property value will go up...I was like; the only time I want a high property value is the day I plan on selling mine, until then all you're doing is paying more tax $$.
    Btw; I paid $48.5k for my house in 1992 (because I'm a tightass), it's currently taxed at $134k... no idea whose ass they pulled that number from.

    house valuation makes no sense up here. bought my house for way to much in 2015 (427K). it went up the first year even though the market was going down. I think they set it that year at 460K. The market has stalled out and even started going back up in most places and my house took a huge drop this year for no apparent reason. just got the assessment last week and it was like 411K. just makes no sense at all to me
