This poll really got everyone talking and asking questions.

    PS that was my goal.

If they ever did visit, they turned on the TV for 5 minutes and reported in "Beam us up. No intelligent life here"

    As to the poll:

    I voted "No" and "No".
Because implicit in the question is that Aliens have visited this planet.

    That I don't believe.
To overcome the "quarantine of space", i. e. the vast distances involved...
...they'd have to be immensely intelligent and far, far more advanced.
So why play peekaboo with us, eh?
And what would be so interesting about us anyway?
Why not land, bold and proud, and simply take over the joint?
Why should they spare our feeeeelingz?

As to whether there IS alien life somewhere, sure, probably.
Most of it, no doubt, bacterial.
I'll even concede there may be intelligent alien life somewhere orbiting some of the uncountable star systems.
Notice I said "uncountable" and not "infinite".
If the universe is curved, as space certainly appears to be...
...go straight (apparently) in ANY direction and you must end up eventually where you started.
Theoretically. Who will ever prove it though?

Then there is the likelihood of parallel universes and/ or dimensions.

Apologies for again posting this song :p:

I thought I was about to be attacked or abducted by aliens one night back in '97. Turned out to be a false alarm but gave me quite a fright for about 10 seconds.

I was driving from San Diego to Phoenix on I-8 at about 0100 between Yuma and Gila Bend. This was when that supercool Comet Hale-Bopp was in the sky, I could see it to the north. Also, it was a few days after the Heaven's Gate cult people did a mass suicide in Fallbrook just north of San Diego. They thought there was a spaceship hiding in the comet's tail and by committing suicide their souls would be sucked up into the spaceship.

Maybe they were right, I don't know, anyway there I was cruising along and something flew directly over my truck about 20 ft above it. It was silent, had white and red lights, blinking lights.

My brain went from bored to racing in an instant, trying to process what was happening, I remember thinking "Goddamn, maybe there IS a spaceship!"

It kept going east above I-8, I turned the radio down and still couldn't hear anything, but since it was moving away from me eastward I figured no worries.

But then it made a crisp U-turn maybe 1/4 mile ahead of me and was coming back. Brain and pulse went into race mode again, but then I heard the engine.

It was a cropduster that I guess was spraying the fields along I-8 at night, bastage had glided over me then had to hit the throttle to make the U-turn.

When I heard that prop engine wind up I remembered the cropdusting operation along I-8, the landing strip is right there by the freeway. Dirty bastage, many times I've thought about stopping into that cropdusting operation and throwing a few punches.

Maybe they did visit, and being fun-loving Wookies, they started the Sasquatch craze and have been laughing ever since.

They were talking about how the people survived in the desert for 40 years in the bible because aliens gave them and moses a machine that made food out of algae.....
Then they showed a rendering of what it looked like...
