    HA.

I'm in college now. Not for a degree, simply because I wanted an easy personal growth plan. College degrees are for suckers (80% of the population).

If you are going for something like healthcare (Dr's. RN's, NP, etc) or engineering, robotics, trades or similar professions, this doesnt really apply as there are plenty of average to high paying jobs once you graduate.
If you are getting a BS in Business Management, you're wasting your time. Go start a small business and make money while learning.

-Most end up with large amounts of debt and a degree that gets them in the door for a job that wont come near paying enough
-Some get a degree, but dont put the effort in to actually be great.
-Companies are slowly removing the requirement for a 4 year degree and are excepting experience in lieu of said degree.

Companies figured out long ago that training people is expensive. They also figured out if they required a 4 year degree, they could push some if not all of that cost onto the prospective student/future employee and the responsibility of it onto the post-secondary education system.

Now, they are figuring out that not only is the post-secondary education system failing them, it is also failing the students. Initially, companies didnt care necessarily what your degree was in. They just wanted "to see that you could commit to something and finish it." I was told this multiple times by a few different employers. (Who required a 4 year degree for a sales job..............................)

Now, you see more stringent requirements for certain fields as far as education goes and less requirements for others.

    What a coincidence.
I took a part time job doing deliveries for a local pharmacy.
    I start today at 2 PM. :)

Eh, if (when?) a trade deal is reached, the market will regain the losses. [shrugs]

I'm never going to get to retire.

My SS report already states that I'll have to wait until 71.

    71. LoL. I'm not going to live that long. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I started researching islands and tropics to move to, wondering how much money I'd need to get started and live for a good 5 years without needing to contribute to their society. I think 5 years would allow me enough time to figure out a trade in the area that is lucrative.

Honestly, I could probably go back to tending bar and have a pretty decent hut on the beach.

Cannot completely disagree with your philosophy. That said, I got an MBA (paid for by a prior employer) and it has paid off. Both in job opportunities (more doors are open) and my ability to perform (understanding the financial side and business practices). That doesn't mean it's for everyone.

As far as the "virtual online degree". That's just another example of the popular entitlement mentality that you should be rewarded with a good job/income without having to pay your dues.
