The Caldor Fire is still moving northeasterly, which is away form my house, thankfully. Our AQI is anywhere from 100 -> 400+ depending on how the wind carries the smoke.

For reference to those not used to hearing about AQI - anything from 100 - 150 is usually considered to be of concern to the young, elderly, and those with breathing issues (asthma, COPD,...). Once it gets above 175 or so, the local Sacramento news stations and CA state agencies issue "Harmful to everyone - stay indoors" alerts.

My wife's gym has closed their outdoor pool for sometime now, due to the high AQI levels (wife does various water aerobics type classes there).

 

That's horrible.

Is it weird to not want white walls at all? Our upstairs is questionably white and we've seen some of the older pictures of our house that showed the living room was white, but it didn't look good.

I thought I had the colors nailed down but now I'm not so sure
