If you enjoy stuff like that you should look up what is happening to the Dead Sea. It's essentially turned itself into a mass of sinkholes and is reclaiming it's shorelines and then some. Interesting stuff.

I've been almost every year since I was a kid. They shut down a bunch of streets to make the track on. Drifting, racing, trucks jumping, drinks, hot women everywhere. Fucking blasty.

Last night on a video chat one of our safety guys showed a couple videos of a recent mine collapse. First video was recorded on an employees cell phone, too dark to see anything but you could hear a bunch of plinking coming from the deep, like rocks falling one by one. (turns out it was coming from a closed section of the mine that was last visited over 40 years ago.)

That employee alerted and the mine was evacuated. The next video was CC footage at the entrance, employees milling around the parking lot. Then the mine collapsed, a monster blast came roaring out the entrance, toppling a nearby utility pole.

No one was hurt, but damn. Was wild to watch.


They are currently assessing the damage by drone.
