They are mandated to pay up to 80 hours by the fed govt.

 

We have no cap on the number of leaves one can take due to symptoms….. and we pay them full wages for 2 weeks! Some people have taken 14-15 leaves!!

 

I'd be on that 80 hours like a buzzard on a gut pile.

 

I've used 9 hours this year when my wife was around someone who tested positive at her work and got sent home and tested.

I feel spoiled that I now work in a small group of salaried- sure there are absentee hijinks but on the average everyone pulls their weight.

My previous job I had a couple of employees that would burn 100% sick time before March, then start dipping into their vacation April-December. (Company issued 2 weeks sick plus negotiable vacation) Bosses instituted a new rule that you could only burn 25% sick during each quarter. I lobbied hard to scrap sick pay altogether and instead add one extra week to vacation, but they weren't having it. It would have corrected so many issues.

We have an '8 call-ins and you're fired' system; each call-in falls off after a year...it's crazy how many people stay on 7.

 

I believe it. So many of my guys called in when we had high priority projects going on, then they asked for OT when we weren't busy.
