I actually didn't really like the movie. But it did have some memorable moments.

 

I liked it pretty well. Kinda depressing. I'm certain it would have been just fine without a particular scene.
But then I think, would it have lost popularity without that scene? Probably.

Tell you what, I'm just old enough that Sputnik is probably my earliest memory.
It's all hazy now, but...
...It was a BIG FUCKING DEAL.

It was on the evening news every night for what seemed like forever.
Grownups got solemn or angry when the word was spoken.

Sputnik Sputnik Sputnik.
Russians Russians Russians.
That BASTARD Khrushchev.

Then the U.S. tried to hurry up and launch a satellite.
Big Fail.
Promptly dubbed Flopnik, Kaputnik.

There was a vogue of adding "NIK" to the end of words.
Beatnik, for example. Peacenik.

Even cartoons got into the act.
On the Rocky and Bullwinkle show, you had Boris Badenov and Natasha.
Boris was a no-goodnik.

 

Oh, I like women's undies alright.
But I'm NOT interested in wearing 'em.

 

I heartily disliked that movie.
It mercilessly exploits all the stereotypes of toothless hillbillies.

 

Raccoons are very clever and entertaining alright.
But they're scoundrels. And thieves.



A friend raised a raccoon kit and kept it as a pet.
Bad idea. They're not good pets.
