The old 10 speed is a thing of the past for me. My company leases our trucks and we get these automatics.

 

Softoppers will leak, it's minimal. But it will leak. Don't remember seeing that question. Just about any topper will leak without additional preventative measures.

 

Where does the leaks come from? Seams, zippers etc??

 

I've got extra foam under the rails. Generally on a softtopper it will leak in the front corners a little bit. It's a velcro'd seam and doesn't really have anything preventing the water from trickling in where it covers the bed cap rails.

For the most part it will keep everything dry.... For the cost and the flexibility its a worthwhile purchase.

Does it have a hitch? Get one of them trailer hitch racks and load it up! It'll reduce wind noise and drag for sure!

 

Looking at this one…

 

I considered that. But no rain or theft protection. And I have to unload it to open the rear door. I mostly need for my camp chairs, table, Coleman stove and my dogs portable pen.

True, what all you take with you seems a bit overboard for 4 items! Tetris the back of the Hyundai a bit tighter?

 

I can do that while rolling but I have to leave it outside when sleeping back there

I’m selling my house. I plan to live and travel in the Hyundai. Most nights will be sleeping in roadside parks, Walmart parking lots or truck stops
