I thought I had posted this already, but I hadn't.

In my town we have a few gas stations, including one at our Safeway grocery store, which has always been the cheapest in town. They have a corporate deal with Chevron, that as you buy groceries at Safeway, you earn "Rewards Points" toward a discount on gas, at a rate of $.10/gallon per Point you earn. You can use these points for discount at any Chevron station, or at a Safeway store station, so I have always assumed the Safeway stations actually are selling Chevron fuels (gas & diesel). Anyway, about 10 days ago, I filled up at the Safeway station for $4.31/gal for 87 octane. Literally two days later, I stopped at the Chevron convenience store for a couple things, and almost had a heart attack at their prices, which have always been around $.40 - $.50/gal higher than Safeway.....

As of yesterday, Safeway is now at $4.89/gal.

 

And I saw one headed south yesterday.

 

it's like that everywhere. This time last year we are just above $3 a gallon. In 4 days here it has gone up $.50 to $4.79 a gallon. My only saving grace is a drive about 9,000 miles a year so only fill up every couple weeks. Diesel fuel is just under $5 a gallon now.
