As a Toyota descendant, it should be reliable. What I would worry/wonder about is was it dogged and how much clutch is left. Either way, the price isn’t bad and you can throw a new clutch in dat bitch up in the she-shed! Oh, and rear main, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, and cut the flywheel. It’s stepped so go to the right machine shop! You gots this Nancy!

 

I looked at Car Complaints and the main complaint is oil consumption. Some have had a little but some have complained about it being major. They are a Toyota product though. One of my old teachers drove one and I believe he never had any issues. My cousin had one but he drove it like a race car and destroyed the engine. He had the full on racing harness and other little ricer parts on it.

It's more or less a Toyota so reliability should be good.

It's a manual so no one can steal it.

KBB, Edmunds and Carfax all rate it very well.

Assuming "good" condition, KBB puts the value for private party sale at $1,733 to $3,688.

$4,800 is above the very top of the "excellent" condition.

Scion is no more so I'd be concerned about availability of parts. Unless Toyota parts are still an option.
