I had a corgi and she liked to dig. I had caught her a couple of times and scolded her and tried my best to keep my eyes on the behavior. The last straw was when my landlords had a litter of kittens, 6 I think. They had passed away from something or other (can't remember exact cause of death). The landlord had put a fountain in their backyard..... I lived in the back house, so my front yard. I didnt know anything about the kittens at the time, my landlord knocked on my door and didn't look very happy.
I opened the door after he knocked and he informed me that my dog had just dug up the grave of six kittens and ate them.... wtf!!!!
I walk with him over to the the area of the fountain and sure enough there is a fresh dog hole and standing next to me is my pup with paws and nose covered in dirt. Landlord was understanding , but we vowed from that point forward to never tell his wife what had taken place.
I then made it a mission to break that dog from ever putting another paw in the dirt to dig with. After 2.5 years of exhaustive techniques I had done it. I would give her a cookie (milk bone biscuit, jerky treat, etc..) and if she didnt want it right then she would take it and fake bury it. It was the most hilarious thing I could witness. She would take it to a corner of the room and paw at it a couple of times then drop item to be hidden and then pretend to lush the dirt back over it with her nose. If you happened to acknowledge that she did it or even look at her while she was doing it... she would stop, relocate and start over.
Fuck! I miss that dog.

My old dog did that too. I took her to work on my night off to get something that I forgot. Canteen driver asked if She could have a hotdog . I said she could but she most likely will not eat it. What kind of dog won’t eat a hot dog ? He asked. She walked around for about five minutes until she found a suitable spot to hide it. always hilarious
