That musta hurt. Had to have been a good reason (at the time). Never owned or shot a Python… rich man’s hogleg…

 

They are "identical" Super Blackhawk single sixes in .44 Mag. The top one was my dad's, he bought it in the early 70's or maybe late 60's to carry while bear/moose/caribou hunting in Canada and Alaska in case he startled a bear in deep forest and may not have time to get his rifle ready to fend off the bear.

I like it so much that once I was able to afford to buy my own guns, I bought one just like it (the bottom one) in maybe late 90's?? My dad passed in 2013, and I inherited his guns, which included his Super Blackhawk, a Ruger BearCat single six in .22 long rifle (not pictured), and his beloved Sako main hunting rifle in .338 Win Mag.

When my sister and I were kids (in the 5 - 10 year old range) my dad taught us to shoot. My sister has always been a "tomboy", and she insisted on learning to shoot his Super Blackhawk, even though it was rather heavy for a little kid, and she could barely hold it up and steady at that young age, but she's never let *anything* stand in her way. My dad always reloaded his own ammo, so he made up some extremely light loads for the .44 Mag, used cast lead round balls and just enough powder to get the ball out the end of the barrel. She was actually pretty good, she could hit tin cans at 5-10 yards distance when we went shooting out in the desert.

 

That was a long, long time ago. I was even too young to buy it. My older sister bought it for me with my money. I don’t even remember why I sold it. Probably needed cigarettes or gas money. It was before I got my CDL so I was unemployed a lot

 

I hear all that! My dad gave me possession of all his guns some 30 years ago. Told me to do with them as I pleased. So I sold one. Also can’t remember exactly why. High Standard Victor .22 pistol. $400 to a fellow mechanic at the Toyota dealer we worked at. My dad learned of this travesty and chewed my ass for 2 decades about it!! “You sold my favorite gun!”
22 years later I’m in a gun store in ABQ on Candelaria looking at powder and dude says “can I help you?” I turn around and it was that guy I sold the gun to!!! I’m like “fuck yeah Todd, you can help me!!! Sell me that Victor back” Cost me $800 to put that toothpaste back in the tube….

Didn't know anything about that. I dislike WV so I tend to not pay attention to anything going on in that state
