You miss out on a lot of stuff if you don't stay up ... but I can stay up all day as late as 11PM ... only to sleep 2-3 hrs and be wide awake/can't sleep by 2AM ... wears me down after a while.

now that's more like it. That color grew on me so much that I’m going to have the Softail painted that color too.

I played saxophone in Jr & Sr High, and during college. About 20 years ago, I decided I finally wanted to learn to play guitar. I've always loved Strats, I picked up a red "US Highway 1" model. I was confident that I would be able to teach myself, so I picked up a bunch of books..... yeah, didn't work out so good. My brain just can't grasp the concept of chords. I get brain lock when I see a chord on sheet music, "can't... play... multiple... notes... at once...". That, and the fact that I could never get my hand/finger muscle memory to be able to know which string(s) I needed to hit and where my hand was in relation to which string(s) I needed.

 

There's just a couple left.

Do you still have it? As Mark Knopfler said, ‘you gotta really want to learn to play guitar’. I never took any lessons but had some friends back in HS who helped get me over the initial hurdles! The key is to find your learning style and just take bite sized pieces to learn. That keeps it fun because you can see your progress. And practice slow enough that you play it correctly! Otherwise, you get really good at playing badly!! I have a really good ear, which usually drives me crazy cuz I gotta learn it right! But I love the journey…. No wrong turns

I at first tried to find a place to take lessons.. The local community college did have Begining Guitar, but it was on a day/time that I wasn't available. So I tried it myself, I didn't know anyone else in my area that played to ask for help. I ended up selling it on eBay a couple years later.

 

Got cancelled today. Time to cut the grass and get ready for the next round of rain.

Actually, none today. I had quite the weekend. Fiesta Del Sol (outdoor spring festival in my hometown) with some fun concerts on Saturday night (lots of beer). Then my favorite Mexican on Sunday for a late lunch (with margaritas). Time to take it easy for a few days to get ready for next weekend.

 

Do your hangovers last for 48 hours like the rest of us over 50’s group?
