    This is an old Apache fable. Told to me by an old Apache.

    One day an old woman left her wickiup to get wood for her fire. She happened upon a rattlesnake lying frozen in the snow. Taking pity upon the poor reptile, she took him home and laid him by the fire. As he began to thaw she mixed up some honey and whiskey and carefully spooned it down the snakes throat. For several days she nursed him back to health. Once the snake was fully recovered, he bit her on the leg. As she lay dying she asked the snake "I saved your life. How can you repay me this way?" The snake answered "Hey bitch, you knew I was a snake"

    The old man told me there was a moral lesson to be learned from the story but he didn't know what it was and didn't really give a shit.
