So, I bought 2 superbowl tickets on the 50 yard line and airfare. Now I realize it’s on the same day as my wedding. If anyone wants to take my place, it’s at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 1pm. Her name is Ashley. She’ll be in a white dress

This song takes me back to my childhood. There was a cop named Louie that worked long hours directing traffic on Main Street. He wore white gloves and his shoes were polished like mirrors. Every day when a group of kids approached the corner, he would walk out into the intersection, stopping cars so that we could cross. He did this every day from sun up to sun down, even working Saturday and Sunday. When we saw him, we would sing the refrain of this song to him and he loved it. It wasn’t till I got a bit older that I found out. Louie wasn’t really a cop, he was nuts. He did all of that for free and was a town fixture. Thats the kind of thing crazy people did back then and I really miss those days.

 

Cuz they haint gooses.

 

We still have one of those. He walks around town with a broom. Sweeping the sidewalks and waving at passing cars

He was a Marine that was shot in the head taking Okinawa. I could write a book about the man and it would be a big book.

Overview:went to war, came home broken. The sound of an airplane would send him scrambling to one of the foxholes in his yard while barking commands to his “unit”.

 

That sucks. But I’m sure he was adequately compensated for his service and trauma.
*insert sarcasm emote here if we had one*

 

He had a job. He worked for the street department and was the hardest working one they had. He semi functioned in society and people helped him the best they could. Sometimes that meant looking the other way by those in charge of shit. He was a really great guy that everyone respected.

 

He once told me that he was kinda glad he got shot, otherwise he would probable feel bad about all those Japs that he killed.

That might’ve been me at one point. I had 2 cats that lived in the house and all the strays in the neighborhood knew I was a soft touch in not letting them go hungry. I’m getting that reputation again at the new place.
