This is the best I got. Took a pic of the truck after I got out of church. Today marks 1 full year of owning it!

The issue is that he can't open the hood. It needs to be charged and the hood doesn't open and the keys don't come out of the ignition when it's dead or something like that. The problem sounds basic, but these cars are a whole other animal as buzz said, so its not a straightforward thing.

 

Here's a universal key

There's a red part of the fuse panel in the drivers footwell that pops out so you can "jump" it with a 12v source to get the hood or frunk open to remove the battery.

Not to jump the car itself, but to open the front so you have access to the battery.

 

Huh. Who thought it was a good idea to make the hood release electronic

 

I was told this has been tried which had no effect. So he's going to try a different source, though someone else suggested it could actually be an issue with the ground.

 

Might have to get a lithium jump pack and set it on boost mode for full power. Or an old, non-smart battery charger to put some voltage on it.
