The old man rant is 100% correct!

We had one kid in here who was an accident waiting to happen; parents were never responsible for anything, the boy was never at fault or wrong..
ATV in the street, turning in front of cars, no helmet, no supervision, driving in the middle of the road at oncoming traffic . . . . and on and on
I wound up calling the sheriff, like 10x, before the ATV crap stopped - thank god nothing bad happened first.
First time in my life calling the law on someone - I didn't like or wanna do it and I tried talking to them but they basically told me to STFU that it was cool the kid 'plays' in the street'

This place I worked for once as an oilfield mechanic, the shop was on the back of 3 acres and the office was on the front so we had golf carts to go back and forth. The owner and his wife ran the office and their kids always got off the bus and stayed until closing time. I used to let them drive the carts around the yard, never on the road, mostly because it got me out of doing real work and the kids had a blast.

You did an awesome job for not being trained. However proper thing to do would have been

First is phone call to 911.
After freeing the leg, locate bleeding, if pulsating, apply tourniquet above bleeding source. Hold pressure on possible bleeding source. Wait for ems to arrive. Moving the patient in shock could be bad. Moving the patient can also cause either elevated heart rate which can induce a more serious blood loss. Blood loss can cause the vitals to bottom out without being able to infuse fluids to keep blood pressure sustainable.

    Noted. Thanks doc.

I was far from a phone, but I knew the other kid who went running would get to an adult and a phone before me. They had called one before they got to the scene and said they had when they arrived.

Yeah, I realized moving her was probably bad, but I realized that too late.

    #caveweek

Suspecting a possible passage in Carlsbad Caverns, spelunkers used helium balloons to manipulate a rope around a protruding stalagmite. They were able to climb up and discovered many new and beautiful caves.
