Well, that guy certainly has a strong opinion on the matter
Not me... I don't know enough about the virtues (or otherwise) of the SIG P320.

I'd be interested to know what youse guys think.

I will say this:
I'm biased in favor of DA/SA hammer guns like the Beretta M9 and wondered, "why the change?".
Sure, the inventory had a lot of worn out or at least well-worn M9s.
So buy new ones

With the Beretta, if the hammer is down it ain't going off without a long, heavy trigger pull...
... assuming the external safety is off, which brings the rotating firing pin striker into alignment.
Internally, there's a firing pin block as well, so a blow to the hammer won't set it off either.
With an M9, you can see at a glance the condition: hammer cocked/down, safety on/off.




More generally, no military has ever been at a serious disadvantage because the other guys had better handguns.
It's something you give service members who MAY conceivably need a personal defense weapon...
... but whose primary duty makes carrying a carbine inconvenient and/or unnecessary.
Special operators excepted.
