    I think we’re in business.

Went scorched earth on this wet brush in the bottom.

    For visitors? Locals? Older? younger?

The Hurricane is the oldest “visitor” (Pat O’Briens), The Handgrenade (Tropical Isle) second.
Sazerac (oldest, older persons), Ramos Gin Fizz, Absinthe.
Youngers - drive-thru Daquiris in any damn flavor ya desire.

Three interesting factoids most people don’t understand when they’re here:
    1) The only closing time is when the bar closes (some don’t). There are bars for bar workers…
    2) You can leave a bar with your drink… just can’t be glass. They’ll give you a go cup if needed.
    3) You can buy liquor at a drive-thru. We have an open container law, but as long as it has a lid and no straw is in it, you’re good. You can’t “appear” to be imbibing while the vehicle is underway. Your passengers can however party up!

Well thats pretty cool info @NoOne thanks for the lesson!

My first time in NOLA was on my way to Tampa, to live in 2015.

I went into a BBQ place in one of the little neighborhoods after visiting Trent Reznor’s old house.

I walked in and these NOLA EMTs came in. They had just gotten off work.

They are talking college football and of course we all started talking and they invite me to their table. It was so classic southern hospitality. The type of experience you can’t buy. Then I learn the place was BYOB - I had no idea some places let you bring your own beer! So funny.

In NC we have Brew Thru - You drive your car into the “store” and they wait on you and you can buy whatever beer you want. Blew my mind first time I saw it in 2006.

I have bird spikes around my Bald Cypress. The fucking squirrels will dig into the soil if I don’t.

    Bastards.

True, places that don’t have liquor licenses can allow BYO and some will have staff trained and just do a corking fee to treat you like they provide. There are a few good BBQ places here, but most are short lived in the scheme of things. Good BBQ is expensive and it’s in that trendy niche. If you ended up with sauce on your elbows, you know it’s good.

I'll have to try and figure out what place I went to. The place was a tiny place, it was like it was in a neighborhood, a small narrow little building. You went all the way to the back of the restaurant to order at a window and there were a handful of tables in there.

I need to dig thru my iphone archive when i get home. heh. I'm googling and seeing if I see any pics of the facade now.

I also visited the WWII Museum which is an absolute fucking must if you are in NOLA.

I'd say a must see museum in the entire country.

It’s MUCH larger now. A lot has been added. I’ve been a few times and remember when that was Mayflower moving and storage facility before. A Professor at University of New Orleans made that happen. Amazing stuff.

That sounds like most BBQ places here. I would take a guess that it was maybe “The Joint”…

When I went in 2015, they had WWII Veterans in the lobby meeting people and signing autographs. It was fucking unreal.

    They're almost all gone. :'(
