I have already devised an escape plan for the coming plague...
With any luck, when it gets too close to me in say 5 years - hopefully I"ll be in a position to flee to Wilkes County

They have a chicken processing plant too LOL

Like 40 min west of Winston in the foothills, far enough from Boone/Asheville that I shouldn't have to deal with those jerks either
Also, I am hopeful to find property there with a wee bit of grade - so I have a hill to pew pew into

my county is being invaded from the NE corner, now it is spreading down the E side
there is a river that is slowing development in my direction but it is just a matter of time.

i moved here b/c of the culture - aka people aren't dicks and hold the door for one another
that is starting to change and i don't appreciate the jerkoffs and their attitudes - makes life more unpleasant than need be

 

I don't think I'm really safe either way. There's one county West of here, but man I did not enjoy that drive to work when I lived over that direction.

 

I'm gonna have to relocate like 2hr west of me . . .
We'll see how things progress - I am hopeful that I can hang on here for awhile but eventually that will be outta runway

Gettysburg (Adams County) has always had tourist traps (cuz battlefield), but it was still basically small town Pennsylvania.

Now?
It's overrun with Bohemian types and their fucking boutiques.
Mostly liberal arts grads who can't get and don't want... a real job.

It was out for days so inside the house got down under 30. Memory foam freezes at that temperature. Apparently.

I've made this point to friends and family multiple times. Some of them get it.

I'm familiar with the silmarillion, having read it several times, as well as some of the other lesser know books. He also has a book of art illustrating some of his locations in the stories.

Fascinating guy. His time serving in WW2 influenced a lot of his writing as well.
