    Head unit. That's it.

Gauging where I am in the program is tough, for a couple of reasons. I'll try to explain this briefly.

I'm a non-traditional student, which means 2 classes a semester is considered full time. (I take two classes a semester)
I started at Western Kentucky University and the program was shit, even though it was highly ranked nationally for Organizational Leadership.
I transferred to Purdue and only a few of my credits made it with me. HAHAHA.
As of the end of last year, Purdue discontinued the availability of my degree, however they grandfathered me in. In doing so, they switched my course plans. I'm taking all of the degree specific curriculum now, and all the prereqs later.

I'm technically a sophomore, but I'm taking all of my junior and senior level classes.

I picked this path because a long time ago, a mentor at another company invested quite a bit in my personal development and taught me a lot about Servant Style Leadership. It was such a paradigm shift that I became quite enamored with the study of leadership, the psychological effects of good and bad leadership and everything that goes into it.

After I left that company, there was a severe lack of personal and professional development at the next company (of which they lied about) and so I decided that I'd do it myself, and the company could pay me back for it. Low and behold, they refused (they basically told me they had no need for someone with a leadership degree....odd, right?) So I left that company and am where I'm at now. They dont pay for it either, but since I live and work in an economically underutilized area, I actually get paid to go to school from the state of Indiana.

I got really lucky, honestly, that Purdue runs this degree through their engineering and design programs. I've taken some really cool classes. (one of them was in the VR lab....)

So now, I learn about how leaders win and lose, succeed or fail. I get a heavy dose of design thinking and engineering, too.

It was honestly a lazy way to create a personal development plan. And its turned into this.

That's quite the journey. I actually have a leadership minor from Virginia Tech, and it isn't quite as involved as your program sounds obviously, but it still taught me a lot of good things that I see lacking in the workplaces I've been in so far, and do my best to try and instill in others.

They also gave me a sword senior year, and I can attest first hand that using it to accidentally draw blood from a freshman is a great way to earn a reputation.

So, going forward in the global marketplace, emotional intelligence will be sought after heavily by any company who wants to stay in business.

In the past, if you could weld, welding companies sought you out.
If you were a finance major, banking and lending companies sought you out.

Yada yada yada. Skill specific industries sought out people skilled specifically in those areas, and rightly so.

Think about the biggest asshole you ever worked with, where you wondered why the company wouldnt fire them. (I have quite a few...mind boggling...)

Either the company was too lazy to do it, or the person added so much value (perceived or valid) that the company was willing to put up with them being an asshole.

That wont be the case in 15, 20 years. Tops.

AI, automation and other technologies are going to reduce out those skills. It already has really. The globe will become more focused on service, not skill. (There will still be sectors of skill, but the service side will be as equally important, you're seeing this a bit now.)

You'll need to be an expert welder, AND have emotional intelligence. As emotional intelligence is innately biological, AI will have a more difficult time compensating.

    Leadership is inherently emotional.

Agreed. I hated those seminars in school, but once you understand the concepts, I have def found myself doing some internal reflection on what gets to me, what I can deal with, and how I interact with others.

    Seriously though: fuck this book

@StayinStock Those things in the last pic are a lot tastier than any damn deer. Anytime you have to mix another meat with a less tastier meat to be able to eat it. You should omit the less tastier meat.
