We haven't filled her up yet. takes about 3 days.

    30,000 gallon in ground.

Our pool days can get a bit, wild. This is my little buddy. I'd gotten my first burn (last year) and was wearing this to keep the sun off my face. He wanted to as well.

I'm on a mountainside next to Michaux State Forest.
Turkeys and deer traipse through the yard all the time. Neighbors saw a Black Bear in their yard once.
Lots of critters here and many have gotten in.

Let's see..two possums (that I remember) and two skunks (definitely remember them).
They came in through the cat door...for the cat food. Not all at once, ha.
I herded them out...gently with a cardboard shield. No, I didn't get sprayed.
Two black snakes, a garter snake, and the bull snake.
That bull snake was real bitey and unhappy. :p

No problem with squirrels in the house...yet. Give it time. They do steal my apples.
Groundhogs are making it futile to plant the vegetable garden with anything besides potatoes.
Saw a big fat one just the other day.
Neighbors have seen Copperheads in their yards, I haven't. I try to keep the brush down for that reason.

Oh yeah, maybe you'll like this.
It was a long time ago and I'd almost forgotten.
Looking back, I think it was an omen:

We moved in this house as newlyweds.
One Sunday morning my wife says the cats are acting weird because there's a little snake under her car.
And would I take care of it?
So asshole me replies: "Whatsa matter, is my wife afraid of an itty bitty snake?"

It's all coiled up, evidently the cats had really annoyed it.
So I reach for it and Whoa!
Sure looks like a baby Timber Rattler.

    Plan B...get a broom and a 5 gallon bucket. :p
Get it in the bucket and yep.
It only had one button on its tail and couldn't really rattle.
But it sure was shaking it.

I took it in the woods and let it go.
Their numbers are low and it's illegal to kill them.
Which doesn't stop most people, but anyway...
They're pretty mild tempered, as rattlesnakes go.
They've always been very good about warning me when I get too close while out hunting in early small game season before the first freeze.
Or when hunting mushrooms in Spring or just hiking in the Summer.
Copperheads are much more common, and not gentlemanly at all.

I took it to a rock fall up the mountain a quarter mile away, which was the most likely den site.
Did I mention the mountainous areas of PA are very rocky?
Supposedly Appalachian Trail hikers say that PA is where hiking boots go to die.

Anyway, if any of you actually made it this far, thanks for reading. :)
And I hope you all have a good day.
