I forgot. Where are you guys moving to and why?

 

We're pretty set on north western Montana. Reasons are various and somewhat political so I'll avoid those, but basically we'd just like to change our lifestyle and see ourselves debt free sooner than later. We love living in the mountains and the thought of seeing less neighbors and having more property appeal to us

 

Is that tax deductible?

 

that sounds amazing. Better than hearing your neighbor do everything through walls...but I guess they can hear me too, so we're even

Lol hardly. We're both anxious to move and I've already packed up about 1/3 of our house. He had us almost driving up there this weekend to look at a place.

 

Speaking of being marooned on a deserted island...

Guy gets shipwrecked and finds himself on an island with no other life except a flock of sheep and a German Shepherd.
After a few weeks he starts looking at the sheep with a new perspective.
He picks out one that's particularly cute and makes his move on her.
At the last minute the dog rushes out of the jungle, grabs his arm and drags him away.
For months he tries different tactics but the dog always thwarts him and protects his flock.
Then one day he sees a yacht sailing by and lights a signal fire. To his delight they stop and launch a motorboat.
Arriving at the beach a beautiful young woman in a bikini steps out and asks
"Hi there handsome. Is there anything I can do for you?"
"Yeah, hold that damn dog"

 

I like the way you think. I love SoCal in many ways. I grew up near the beach and love the ocean. But the politics of CA as well as the cost of living and taxes are driving me crazy. Once my son graduates HS we are looking to find somewhere less crowded and cost friendly to settle. Good luck with your move.

Thanks, good luck on your freedom as well! My sister will be doing the same thing at some point but I think they are thinking Idaho. The kids have said they're fine moving during high school but my BIL is so close to his retirement that they may wait and by then my niece and nephew will have graduated.

A lot of people don’t believe in alien abductions but I can attest that I’ve had several blind dates go to use the restaurant bathroom and vanished without a trace.

 

I’ll get to work on that. I’m sure there will be a much larger choice.
