    Range maps are never dead on, but are you in or close to the red? Screenshot_20200515-200441_Chrome.jpg

    Almost positive it’s a ground snake after some googling.

    The ID between the two is the lateral scales. Most will have an anterior black mark to them in the ground snake, variable no. That was why I was asking about the photos. Grounds have so many phenotypes, one of which is similar to the variable.

    @Taco-Obsessed

    Thanks for your help. Based on what I’m reading it most like will go back in the yard.
    Will likely have to replace it with something else now that my wife is smitten and we have the set up and all.
    Thinking about a King or Milksnake. Any recommendations?

    Good man. Yeah I agree, both those species are specialist snakes(ecology, not husbandry, but husbandry would be difficult) not really the best for keeping.

    Mowed my lawn yesterday because tomorrow

    oil change
    1st coat basement hallway in oil, so I need to make sure it airs out well.
    Pick up load of compost and irrigation stuff from friend to repair a couple of breaks in the lines and follow it around and hopefully not find anything else. My dog heard the leaks and showed me by digging at them. Pretty cool I think. Maybe I can put her to work looking for more.

    But before I can work on that I will do some planting as well

    Any colubrid would be good. Kings, milks, corn, rats, etc... I would by a baby and raise it up.

    Question, is that a fake rock/hide hut or a heat rock in there?

    Hide. Have an under tank heat mat on the outside of the bottom of the terrarium. Gradient is 73-75 on the cool side and 83 on the warm side.

    @TooTallJAMZ if you have an android and go into your Google photos gallery you'll see a little dotted square shape at the bottom with a dot in the middle. If you use that it will search Google images for a "like" photo which you can use for identification.

    Hope that made sense :rasta::notsure:

    Best thing to do unless it already has one is plug the pad into a dimmer and then using a thermometer turn it up and down throughout the year as needed depending on the species and preferred gradient.

    I'm geeking out now and want to see the sides of the snake, not belly not the top, but between. I want to see the lateral scales.

    Fucking rad snake!

    Let me know what you end up getting. I'd order a baby online from a breeder/dealer.

    Thanks Tiffany bit I have an iPhone. :anonymous:I know there’s a way to do it on iPhone too but haven’t ever done it.
    Should though along with other things to make me more tech savvy.

    Sadly it went back to where it was found. If I’m gonna house a snake at this point it has to be on the easy side as far as husbandry. Thinking about something like these. Thoughts?
