I am at work, single-handedly keeping the western U.S. power grid operational.
They really should pay me more $$.

    Story time... (Condensed version)

Where did Tiffany and @Twizted go? Montana. Shocked? No.

We found a beautiful house that met all our requirements. Cell signal, internet, 10+ acres, rural...everything else was a bonus. There was a catch. There's an unhappy tenant and a few other things that appeared questionable and after knowing the house already had a previous offer that fell through we decided to put in an offer continent upon a whole host of things but most immediately our viewing and internet.

Everyone knows we bought a cargo trailer recently so we decided to put it to the test with a first smaller load. Our goal is to live north so we actually picked a storage in Idaho and regardless of where we land it would get some of our stuff out of the house and within a few hours of wherever we buy. We could also go meet the agent and see the house so this trip was a win-win. That would be partially wrong.

Here's something you should know when you get extremely close to a border is that your cellular carrier will all of a sudden have no idea where you are and you get lovely welcome to Canada messages and roaming notifications. Hmm... That isn't right. We had signal going up the road and then nothing, nada, ziltch. We'd see what happens when we get to the house.

...oh the house. The gate was locked and ghetto tied with twine. Our first indication of the tenants displeasure (we had been warned). The wife was home and husband was not. Everything was locked. Can't go up one set of stairs. Can't go through one hallway. Why? Because the tenant had instructed us not to. We can play along. Want to go downstairs into the basement? Put your shoes back on and go back outside around the house and she'll unlock that door. Oh, we also still had no signal and had brought our modem to test in case this happen. Still nothing. We ask the wife of they get signal at the house? Oh sure they do...upstairs in the house...in a window...with it open. Wtf? (FYI, that doesn't fucking count)

We decide to continue looking at the shop thinking maybe we can call our cellular provider after we leave and figure things out. After wrapping up the husband arrives home. Uh oh. He pulls halfway up the driveway to our trucks, puts it in reverse half way down and then decides to drive across the yard to go around us. FYI, we weren't blocking the driveway but I'm assuming he didn't trust himself not to ram our trucks. He and the agent had some words and we leave, locking the gate behind us. We stop to give the agent our check in case we figure out a way to make things work and the tenant comes marching down the driveway and saying if we're going to stop and have a pow wow that we can get off his property (we're outside the locked gate). We pretty much ignore him saying he's not close enough to hear and that we'll be on our way.

I'm obviously leaving out many other bits but you get the gist of what happened. Stayed at a beautiful B&B that evening after having dinner in a restaurant in town that night. We also ran into the marketing guy for the internet provider in town and a year from now that house would have fiber but for now it has nothing. He offered to let us use their internet at his office lol. Beautiful area, beautiful towns nearby, but it wasn't meant to be. We're back home and the search continues...

    Some pictures from our adventures...
