Woke up at 6am with more energy than ever and got started...chorin. Still feel great so Ima break out the lawn chair, throw up an umbrella and drink a beer on my tiny patch of grass they call a "lawn". Happy Monday all and remember...stay out of the tall grass

Yep. There is a herd that open grazes and has bells on. It's like having windchimes in the forest.

Nah, I didn't see mushrooms of any sort in that area and I'm slowly learning identification so even if I found any I wouldn't touch it.

That's actually a little odd to me.
    Not a dairy herd?

    Story time.

My Dad put a bell on the dominant cow only.
That reinforced their tendency to follow her.
It cut down on stragglers come milking time.

Holstein cows are big and occasionally belligerent.
If my Mom had to bring in a balky one, she carried a pitchfork or at least a big stick.
    And used it, too.

They were pretty meek around my Dad though.
One time a cow was touchy (maybe she was getting mastitis).
She kept kicking up her leg when my dad was trying to get the milker on.
Finally he got up and went around to her front.
He picked up a big stick and brained her right between the eyes.
She staggered and went down on her front legs for a moment.
    No more trouble that evening.

You wouldn't do that to a Jersey or Guernsey.

It ain't all funsies on a farm.

Not a dairy herd. I'm sure there's some sort of logic around having them out there but whatever it is I'm not sure. Maybe they like non native plants? Make bears and mountain lions avoid the area? No idea. Small herd was only about 10 or so from what I could see. They were shy and wouldn't let us get close.

No, that black one was just the alpha of the herd so she was out front.

They're probably wondering what a herd of humans is doing outside of it's cubicles.

Or maybe they're offering some steak bjs.
