Morning all...so happy to be home. Slept like a brick minus the times our kitty decided he wanted my attention. He did not protect the house from ants while we were gone. Hot days always bring the random ants inside

Things to do today:

1) Fill up garbage can since tomorrow is garbage pickup.
2) Figure out which outdoor project I want to get done and can possibly finish.
3) Post stuff for sale so we don't have to move it.

Fun observation: We've found that in Montana or at least rural Montana that not everyone has garbage service and people either go directly to the dump or to garbage areas to dump their trash. The "small" garbage cans we saw could easily fit a few of me inside. I have no idea what the hell I'd be throwing away for a weekly pickup to justify a can that large


Anyone else with fun plans for today? Shouldn't be hard to top mine.

 

The county I live in has convenience stations for trash and recycling drop off. Mine is across from the grocery store where I shop. No fees for trash disposal is a luxury. Glad I have a truck cap to keep critters out of the trash till I go for groceries.

Interesting. That's a totally foreign concept to me. We live in a county where we pay for a single can but the facility actually does all the recycle sorting for us, though there are areas for cardboard recycling you can go throw stuff into whenever. I believe the sorting facility is ranked either the top or one of the top in the country.

The county next to us would give you 2-3 cans. Normal household waste, recyclable and yard waste.

You can legally burn yard waste but we're already into the fire season so the ban was put in place a few weeks ago.

Washed my truck so I can drop it off at the off-road shop. New tires, shocks and struts going on tomorrow.

Waste disposal is free here because a deal with WM to build large lanfills and accept out of state garbage. The transfer stations have separate containers for Oil, tires, paper, glass, plastic, appliances, electronics and hazardous materials. I have a well and septic system so my bills are only electric and propane.
