So I'm thinking of picking up a set of rockcrawlers:

If I do, I would like to sell my stock SR5 alloys:

I was toying with the idea of painting them black, but think it's probably better to just get a set of black wheels instead.

My question is should I still paint them black to try and sell them? Would they be worth more? How much? How much do they generally go for as is?

    TIA

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
I say get the rockrcrawlers and leave the stock's as is you might not be able to sell them as fast painted because of your workmanship I'm not saying you don't know what your doing but some guys might not want to buy painted rims unless they can see them first.

I have those crawlers on my Tacoma. I sanded them and painted em black and still have not had to touch them up one bit.

Don't paint the originals. you are just making your target buyer group smaller.

thanks for the input. what do people typically sell the OEM alloys for? I have no idea what they're worth.

    not sure

i had trouble selling mine a couple years ago...and they had tires with good tread on them...but were painted black

ended up getting $200 for them plus some gas money for delivery

check out the BST sub forum and kinda skim to see what theyre going for

I just sold a set a few days ago for $200.00, the wheels and lugs only. No TPMS as I transfered these to my new wheels. I was glad to move them and the buyer was glad to have them.

You could probably sell the stock wheels (unpainted) and buy a full set of rockcrawlers and maybe even have money left over.

    Don't paint the stock wheels.

Get on craigslist or ebay to get a feel for what people are asking for them.
