What's everyone buying with their tax return?

Pay off the tiny bit I built up on the credit card, pay off a bill, maybe a URD UCON, save the rest. Yea I usually get mad returns back.

Also inb4 "stop paying irs interest"... If I got the money up front in small increments I'd have nothing saved because I'm horrible like that. lol

 

having a mortgage and property taxes (while they suck ) help out in this situation. Last year we paid $17K in interest on our mortgage (4.5% fixed) and got a healthy return. We save most of it, but this year are taking a trip to the left coast.

Due to AMT, instead of getting a nice refund, we owe quite a bit...not what I call fun

AMT - alternate minimum tax, a program put in place in the 60's to make sure the wealthy pay their fair share, and never adjusted for inflation.

 

A weekend trip to a winery this spring and a longer trip this fall to Montañita and Cuenca, Ecuador to look at retirement investments.

I dont think I will be getting a return this year, I got an inheritance, and I think I may have to pay income taxes on it. If I do, it may negate the return I usually get.

 

Wife is making me put all of it toward a downpayment on a second home, so we can rent our first home. I wanted tires...

 

Paying off some outstanding debt, if there is any left over, save it. Credit score is already on the 730 range, want to get as close to 800 as humanly possible.

I'm planning to go hog wild in 2013, so I don't mind waiting a bit.

 

Before I married my wife, her parents said if we ever get a divorce, one of us should kill the other because it becomes a huge cluster fuck like this if you both live... My wife agreed and I said I have all the guns, a good laugh was had and I am hoping the word divorce is never spoken in my house, I love my wife.

 

When I got divorced, the judge made us file JOINTLY, and since I had paid significant amount in, and she hadn't paid a penny of her self employed income in, I got stuck paying my taxes AND her taxes, even though the judge ordered her to pay half she never did...

Tired of the "marriage tax"
