honestly I've always seen the 2.7 & 3.4 as different part numbers when things are listed in catalogs :notsure:

I've used Walker and have no complaints (also less than that price)

you know, now that I think about it. It’s absurd to claim the same exhaust would work with different engines with entirely different compressions.

I went with a Borla Cat Back, it doesn’t sound too drone-ish, a bit deeper. I had some interesting fun getting it to connect to a Walker Cat and the TRD header- replaced the OEM, with a split crossover pipe, which didn’t survive the removal process. Ended up getting the flange cut off and repositioned to match up with the TRD header flange, up at a shop up in Fairbanks. Always a challenge when you live 2-1/2 hrs out of town.

    My questions:

    1. Anyone here under the assumption that Toyota engineered the exhaust system for optimal performance? Would changing out the muffler have any negative effects on performance?

    2. If I were to switch out the muffler one day, I'm looking for a pretty close to stock sound (e.g. quiet) but maybe just a tinsy bit more growl. I read a couple pages back about the Bosal. That sounds just like what I want. Most importantly what I do not want is drone of any sort at any speed/cruise.

    3. Lastly, I was always under the impression that the stock TRD exhaust was Borla. Is there any way I can confirm this on my truck?

So... any recommendations? That Bosal? Or just leave it stock?
