Hey fellas, Ive been a lurker on here for some time now and am debating on selling my 98 limited that i've put a ton of time and money into. I'm still a bit up in the air but am leaning towards selling it to get a runner for the extra seats and pay off some of my student loans. heres the specs:
    98 tacoma limited auto elocker
brand new cooper atp tires 32 on limited runner wheels
    timing belt just done
    new radiator
    new water pump
    new fuel filter
    new transmission filter and fluid
new 5100s front and rear stock coils
    new deaver pack out back
    new plugs
    new rotors and pads
    new kenwood bluetooth deck
    bed liner
carpet kit with built in seats and storage units
    wildernest pop up camper shell.

The truck is a california truck with zero rust on the frame and runs awesome. only drawback is there is a lot of scratches in the paint and a couple of small dents. i'm having a hard time pricing the truck as i see prices all over the place. i'm hoping i can get about 12k for the truck as i've put a lot of time into the truck and am confident it can drive to alaska and back. does that seem about right or am i a bit off? I wouldn't pay over 6 no matter how good it was. I bought mine for less 4 years ago.

Maybe you have higher prices than where I'm at though.

When I have time to get out I love Alaska, dark winters take getting used to.

Where is taco located? That can have a huge influence on the value.

Cool. I think California rust free tacos go for a considerable amount more. I want that wildernest though. :D

Its a nice truck, but realistically, I wouldn't pay more than 10k for it. I am also located in the Sacramento/Bay area, and I know these trucks can command top dollar if you find the right buyer. People are really digging the '01-'04 body style Tacoma's more I feel like, and having a double-cab 4x4 only makes it worth more. Start at 10k and see what kind of offers you get.

Quite honestly, no one cares how much time and effort you've put into it, unless that time was put into oil changes and routine maintenance.

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Check out KBB.com and enter your stats, it won't be perfect because it doesn't take into consideration custom mods n/ stuff, but it will get you close. Then, go to craigslist, ebay motors or even carmax and look for similar vehicles. You can generally get a feel for how long a craigslist add has been up, and that will help tell you if they're asking too much for the market. There's easily a couple grand difference from one area to another, so you need to stick as close to your area as possible.

Then post an add. If you get 5 calls the first day offering full asking price, you're probably not asking enough. If it's been a couple weeks with no offers, it's too high... Also, if you're in a hurry, you'll end up taking a hit, but if you take your time, you'll find the right buyer willing to pay the price you want.

My 2 cents which isn't even worth face value.

12k isn't the craziest. I sold one for 13k without it being TRD and had just a few less miles (Maria in my signature). So like they're all saying it just depends on if you find the right guy. I've found people looking at my trucks really want to get a good deal and they think they get a better one buy talking you down 1k. So figure out how much you want to make off the truck, bottom dollar, and add the 1k to there and see what happens.

Also keep your add simple, any time I'm reading long adds I get bored and seems to be the same when others are reading mine. They ask just about everything that I already had listed.

If it were me I think I'd be happy getting 9k, and that should be a price that sells it quick. Also keep the camper and sell it separately or use a bartering tool if they want lower.

    Good luck.

    My guess is $7k-$9k range.

In the Bay Area I wouldn't be surprised at $11K. Like Obsessed2000 said if you price it $9k it'll be gone fast.

Post this on the Norcal Board. You'll get a lot more accurate responses from locals.
