Hey everyone! I'm just curious as to what you all think my truck could be worth IF I were to sell it. I just bought it lost month, Jan. 21 and don't know if I rushed into getting a Taco. It's in amazing condition (in/out) for it's year, NO BODY DAMAGE WHATSOEVER. I'm originally from Hawaii but going to school in Utah for another 1.5 years and didn't think I NEEDED 4x4 since I would ship it home and wasn't planning on doing any offroading, but I think I caught the bug and would like to know I'd be safer when hitting some light trails. The reason I'm curious is because there is an '01 DC Taco near my apartment that I can't take my eyes off! I hate the feeling. I like the truck I have but hate to know I would LOVE the one I always see. It's 4x4, got a lift kit on it, roof racks, etc.

Here's some specs on MY truck:

    1999 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner
    2WD 3.4L V6 Extended Cab
    94,907 miles
    Michelin LTX A/T Tires ~ 60% Tread
    Flowmaster 40 Series Muffler
    w/3" chrome tip
    Rhino Bed Lining
    Black Altezza Tail Lights
    Clear Bumper/Signal Lights
    AVS In-Channel Window Visors

Let me know what you all think I could possibly get out of it, IF I were to sell. Thanks!

    One dolla!

J/K ... nice truck. VERY clean. It won't sell for as much in UT as it would in a warm state though, because it's a Prerunner. Out here in CO, for example, 4x4s go quick, and for top dollar. But Prerunners and 4x2s are cheap just because there's little demand.

Yea man. KBB is about $8300 Excellent and $8036 Very Good. You agree? Just curious though, I know a lot of dealers and stuff buy 'em low and sell 'em overpriced.

Ah! I got you man. Thanks for the info. Curious, what's your opinion on possibly lifting a 2WD "slightly" and hitting some light trails and off-roading? I'd love to do it, but wanna be able to get out. Haha!

    I wouldn't take less than $8500 for my 99, but it's a 4x4

Well if it's a Prerunner, then it's got a locker (right?) , so light offroading shouldn't be a problem at all. Don't even think you'd need a lift for that. Your problem would be snow. But with a set of studded tires in the rear, and a couple hundred pounds of tube sand over the axle, you'll have no problem on the roads around there. Any vehicle can get stuck, and in all honesty, there are guys with locked Prerunners that can outdrive guys in 4x4s .. mostly because they pick careful lines and know their vehicle's capabilities.

Wow. Great advice man thanks! What about in terms of maybe getting a small lift? Is it pointless for a 2WD?

good point. only reason I did was because I won't be here too much longer. and the winters haven't been anywhere near bad the past couple years.

    Too many to list.
I'd say you should get $8,500 or so for it, but if you are looking to sell a PreRunner, it would sell much better in a non-mountainous area... I live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and you can't sell a 2 wheel drive around here to save your life unless you are willing to take a low-ball offer...

I paid about $3,700 more than that for my '04 Prerunner DC, but Toyotas hold their value really well.
