what's my tow rating w/o trailer brakes?

    Front 5100s @ 2.5, 1.5 AAL, 265/75-16 all terrains
    I've got a V6 Sport with the tow package. The tow rating says 6500lbs but that's if you are using trailer brakes. What is my tow rating without trailer brakes?

    in ca the rule is 1/3 of the weight of the tow veh with out trailer brakes.

    I've flat towed my wrangler a few times, Not much problem in slow city or gentle hiway stops, but real shitty going down steep curvy mountains.

    Edit: Heep weighs between 3 and 3.5k.

    My manual states that unbraked trailer tow rating is 1000 lbs (450kg). Over 2000 lbs (900kg) needs sway control and over 5000 lbs (2250kg) needs a weight distributing hitch.

    A weight-distributing hitch is a "load leveling" hitch. It is a hitch setup mounted on the tow vehicle that uses spring bars under tension to distribute part of the trailer's hitch weight from the towing vehicle's rear axle to the towing vehicle's front axle and to the trailer's axle(s). It can help reduce trailer sway and hop. Trailer hop can jerk the tow vehicle. Trailer sway is sometimes called "fish tailing". At high speeds, trailer sway can become dangerous.
