Does the shovel come with guard or is that an extra?

The guard on shovel is an extra but available on all there orders. They are local to me and i love their product. I believe Fiskars does make a shovel but I haven't looked into it. My axe did come with the guard courtesy of lowes lol!

To those of you who keep your shovels and axes in your beds: How do you secure them against theft? In my neighborhood they would be gone in an instant. That is why I keep an entrenching tool and a hatchet in the toolbox.

Gun locks..... Can get them at any local gun store. Not the most rugged setup, but enough of a deterrent for most.

I can see that for a D-handle shovel, but how about the axe? Does anyone make a mount that locks or would take a padlock?

The Fiskar axe has a small hole on the back. Gun lock fits perfectly through. You can see it if you zoom in on my pic with the Orange lock

    I see it now. Thanks.

My concern would be to have it set-up so that someone can't steal the mounts and all. Rough neighborhood. :(

Trust me, I understand. New mexico's crime rate is pretty bad.
So it was a concern of mine too. I wrapped that lock through my bedrack. So unless it's a prepared thief. They would have to take my bedrack apart just to get it off or come with a cutter.

Also, 99% of the time I have hard cover on. Husky axe and razorback shovel are fairly cheap anyways.

I keep my stuff under a RollX. Out of sight, less temptation.

Can anyone give an opinion on the Krazy beaver shovel? I'm skeptical.

I like the Razor-Back shovel and axe. Shovel has holes in the foot pads (drill one out a bit for gun lock to go through) and the axe has a hole in the handle that the lock fits through. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Heads super heavy compared to the rest of the shovel. Making it an awkward throw if you're used to the typical steel head wooden handle/shaft setup you find in your dads garage. But once you get the hang of the weight it does chew up anything in its way better than an average shovel but just slightly. I mean it's a shovel and it does it's job. I bought for +1 expo points :bananadance:

That will work. Especially if designed to cover at least one of the mounting brackets so that they don't steal the whole kit and caboodle.

Ace Hardware ax and shovel on a Baja Rack with their mounts have worked well for several years. Security provided by a couple of small padlocks through the mounting bolts.
