Im Interested in getting a proformance chip for my 2007 4.0L Tacoma, but i don't know what chips actually work and what ones are simply scams. also i want something i can install myself and not have to pay additional hundreds of dollars to have someone program it. I Commute 30 Miles every day so i'm just looking for a chip that can save me some Gas mileage but also give me a good power boost when i want it.

Any and all opinions are appreciated!!

    aint gonna happen.

Best thing for MPG's on the 4.0L is light tires, synthetic fluids, 65mph and under.... and most importantly drive like an egg is under the throttle.

Beyond that, everything you see for performance chips is snake oil.

The best performance chip is the one you don't buy.

No, if any thing it just about right other wise the EPA would flag them for high HC. Like some one said forced induction or just peddle faster. Hyper chip are for diesels about worthless on any gas engine.

    Lots baby!
URD's UCON is a good system. But I am pretty sure Gadget does not offer it for a 4 banger.

On a separate note I keep reading the title of this thread as "what's the best broformance chip"

    It fits.

Day to day, my truck was a little more peppy with the UniChip. Towing is when I noticed the most difference.
If you are looking for MPG and performance, what has been said would be best. Performance- SC the engine. MPG- take it easy on the skinny pedal, good fluids, and keep your tires aired up.

Or, get an old Geo Metro/Chevy Sprint with a 3 banger and 5 speed.
