Hello.... my last Tacoma was they 1999 Pre-runner. And I've been without a truck for some time now. Want to get a Tacoma, double cab, long bed, the one with the hood scoop, and 4x4. What would I look for?

Can you recommend the best year for a tacoma like this?

My research is leading me to the 2009. Any thoughts? -JCro

Yeah, but a 4 hour drive might be rough. It's been a while since I sat in the back of a second gen though.

    in my opinion

    no DCLB

I just like the 2007 because it doesn't have all the retarded electronics, but has reliable motor mounts haha.

2009+ because of the improvements they made. better brakes and aux port. I also second the 2011 purely for the better grille.

    the newest one.

but many have features folks don't like to see added or changed.

people are slow to accept change. self included.

You make it sound like I don't accept change because it's change and not a bunch of electronic garbage I have no use for.

I like the change to the honeycomb grill, I like the back up camera, I like some of the interior gizmos but I have absolutely no use for ATRAC any other trac or any other vsc stability control bullshit. So based on that, 07 suits me the best, the kinks were worked out, and none of the garbage electronic systems.

Feel free to choose as you please, but it's not a fear of change that dictates to me which is the best (for me).

    Just saying. :)

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
07-08 and last run of 06 because.
    A. They don't have expensive to maintain and fix electronic
    B. In 2009 model Nummi employes were told they are fired so quality before that has been top notch after went down the drain.
    C. More parts where coming from Japan instead of Mexico. ( example my rear differential has Hino factory stamps)
    D. With out electronics they can be moded any way you want.
