That's normal on every truck with the 6, 8 and 10 speed transmissions.

well on those same highway roads without wind it doesn't kick down to at all at the same speed. it seems the transmission is over sensitive to any winds above 15+ mph.

I had a Honda Ridgeline that would do the same thing when it rained, or sun hit the windshield suddenly coming from a shaded area. These systems aren't perfect in any vehicle. My guess is once 2018 Tacomas start hitting the road we will see lots of threads about this here.

By the way, how come FCA isn't being treated the same way? They did basically the same thing on their eco diesels and stopped selling them for 2017 for almost the entire year.

As of yet no 2018's available on Toyota's' website. 1% 72 month financing being offered for 2017's. Could be a back log of 2017's they need to dump before releasing the 2018's.

I agree. I just personally saw the huge inventory of 2017's on the lot of the large dealer near me. I counted something like 90 Tacomas on the lot when a few months ago there were only like 15. That, combined with that Toyota financing offer, makes me think these 17's aren't selling that well at this point as many of us sit and wait to buy the 2018 model with their upgrades.

Quick rant: Toyota, you guys are slow as shit this year. Why THIS year when I am looking to buy? :annoyed:

Yep. It's a numbers game...they are going to make this year a 14 month year. Rare that you see any kind of promo on the Tacomas. Only corporate truly knows why.

So how does that work then? Is the 2018 model going to only be a 8 or 10 month production run or something?

Edit: Maybe they are making some of these '18 model changes and decided to use that extended '17 model production time to use up old parts inventory?

No clue. But yes, at some point I think they will have a short year. This kind-of has me worried about selling my 2016 this year. KBB and NADA numbers have dropped 2K in the last two months. That's normally an entire years depreciation on a Tacoma.

Guess I will see when my PRO arrives if buying one still makes financial sense. I may just another year and see what the new 4runner has to offer.

Why are you interested in going from a 16 to a 18? TSS? Or other reasons?

I'm in the same boat. My '99 KC is tired and is really nickeling and diming me. Counting the minutes for the new ones to drop, I thought for sure the 2018's would have been released by now.

TSS will be nice for sure, but I use my truck for business (i.e. write off most of my miles) and I generally get a new one every two years. The tacomas have been really good to me in that respect. Very little depreciation and never have to worry about any kind of maintenance. I love my 2016, and I might just keep it if it looks like Toyota is dumping on the market right now. There is a small part of me that would really like to start moding this 2016 once it's out of warranty....who knows? Guess I'll have to wait another month or two and see if I can walk away from a shiny new PRO. :)

Tundra only jumped $1k from 2017 to 2018 but it was enough along with rebates on 17s to convince me to buy a 2017. Also when I bought the Tundra 2 months ago no one had yet figured out how to make TSS work with the Pro grille. Since I absolutely hate chrome, and the Tundra front end has way too much, I ordered a Pro grille the same day that I bought the truck.

Toyota releases their new year vehicles in a staggered fashion so dealer can cope with them as they come in. Some have suggested that it's the TSS that's delaying the Tacoma but the Tundra with TSS has been out for a couple of months. The '18 Sienna still hasn't been released yet as well.

I guess this is possibly one of the colors for the '18 Pro

From what I have seen you are correct. Calvary blue is the new Pro color replacing cement which has moved to the TRD sport and OR.

On another note... if this is a 18 pro in the pic, it MAY be the 1st actual photo of the 18 pro and prove that the grille is not changes from the 17 dispite the addition of TSS. Again, this is based on the acuracy of the pic, it will support the theory that the boxed section unter the Toyota on the pro grille is for the TSS sensor array.:D

It’s not, it’s photoshopped. But probably a fairly accurate representation.
