I was excited about the 18s, I want to order a double cab long bed 4 x 4 and do a lift immediately. But another thread said that you cannot lift the 2018 tundra and you will no longer be able to lift the 2018 Tacoma due to the new Toyota safety features. might try to hunt down a 2017 I guess , But really wanted the black leather interior.

This uncertainty was exactly why I decided to not wait for '18 & instead pulled the trigger on a '17 over Labor Day. Waaay to hot for leather seats in Reno, it was a specific reason I was justifying a vehicle transaction but I also wanted Prem pkg (BSM, heated seats & moon roof) & couldn't risk waiting only to find out the '18s wouldn't check all my boxes when I could lock up a '17 immediately. Very happy with my decision.

    Just the basics
Can't imagine this being a possibility. Toyota knows people like to modify their rigs. People would stop buying Toyota trucks if it were true.

Hmmm, so you're thinking the same - that you can't get away without leather when you get the Premium package.. Looking forward for someone to verify this once more time passes, I realize it is still a bit early to know for sure. I hope I can get fabric ([FD15] Seat Trim Graphite w/Gun Metal, Fabric Seat Trim (FD) to be exact) but I'll live with leather if I have to.

I don't see why the '18 would not be available in the same configurations that you mention. Those are options I am looking for also, however I opted to wait for the 2018 (unless a '17 with those options and a killer deal falls in my lap). I'm banking on them addressing some of the common nuances in the 16/17 and I would actually like oem leather.

All my speculation is based off the Spec Sheet posted at the beginning of this thread. If you comb through the trim packages it appears the 2018 Prem pkg (BSM, heated seats, moon roof) is getting mandatory leather. If you want leather you're in great shape. I absolutely wanted fabric (trim HH).

Yea -- I see what you're saying. I think you'd be able to find someone w/a low mile '17 willing to trade you (maybe even +cash). That's assuming the seats would be a direct swap... probably not so much.

Been following this thread for some great info, and wanted to add some when I could. Put down a deposit about 6 weeks ago for a 18 TRD Sport DCSB 6MT. The salesman said the 2017's with a MT where probably nla, and we'd be waiting for 18's. Got a call today to let me know that they just got the clearance to start ordering Tacomas, so mines on order. He says he'll keep me updated as he gets his info. Price wasn't discussed, but he knows I'm not getting any of the tech packages, and I feel very informed thanks to TW. But it will be the 4x4 in order to get the manual. Will update y'all as I hear, and a big thanks to just about everyone on here for tons of great reading. I gotta get my TW fix every damn day now. Already been ordering a few items, and watching a lot of group buys.

If it's any further help, my territory is with Gulf States Toyota

What's the chatter on the Entune 3.0 on the 18 Tacomas? I see that the 18 Camry has it, and I'm trying to fully understand all the things a person has to pay for to get the full use of it once the "Free" subscription period runs out. Granted several of the things it can provide (if you pay for) don't apply to my needs, so not biggy for those. The Dynamic Navigation system I am still trying to find the out of pocket fee for it once the "Free" subscription runs out.

You guys pre-ordering 18's, are you not concerned about pricing or financing promos? I'm holding off to see when they start running a financing promo that rivals my CU or the "online" banks, plus I surely don't want to pay sticker.

I am not worried. Dealer is offering me $500 over invoice and already gave me trade value. My Credit Union is at 2.9 if I decide to finance

The reality is, even the dealer won't know what their "dealer price" is until the end of the month/quarter. There are so many hidden incentives, rebates, quotas, etc. that come in to play. I had this battle with my bank when I was getting financed. They wanted "invoice", I said "invoice is relative to dealership and isn't the actual cost". Then they said, "so give us the "dealer cost"". Nobody knows the true "dealer cost" either.

The best bet is to shop around and find dealers that price match. Get everything in writing, take your time, and be willing to travel. Also, don't take ANY deal from the finance guy, it's usually a sham. He's there to load up your loan with crap you don't need. Unless you get a shitty rate from your bank, the best option is to take the deal of getting the extended warranty rolled into the loan so you can get Toyota financing at something like 1.9%. But then you have to immediately cancel the extended warranty or risk losing a LOT of money. About 6 months ago I spent weeks shopping around and ended up getting my 2017 Limited with aftermarket paint protection film, predator steps, tonneau, alarm (not just keyless entry), LED bed lights and a couple other things for $38,009 out the door. I haven't seen a bare bones Limited this cheap, let alone one with $3,500 in options.

TL;DR-Call every dealer in country and try to price match. You'll eventually find one close to hitting sales targets or end of quarter and will move something for a steal. Buy the one with the price you are happy with. There will be a "2018 what did you pay" thread here shortly.

Invoice is relative though. Who knows what all they will add in to it?

Look at this invoice posted previously. I wouldn't pay this. Reserve, holdback, options, etc. It's mostly crap, but still "invoice". This forum needs to get past the thought of "I paid invoice +$x,xxx".

There was some knucklehead on here that was bragging how he always offered $500 over invoice and got it. He swore it was the best deal you could get.

I don't think he ever produced an actual invoice and like you said no one knows the true invoice so they label something "invoice" and add $500 to it.

    Exactly.

Here's a really good example from my truck purchase. My invoice included a "dealer cost" of $30 for nitrogen for the tires. Do you think "paying $5 over invoice" makes sense for this? How about $.50?

Obviously not. Paying $5 over invoice just gave them additional profit on top of the actual cost. Imagine how pissed the guy who pays "$500 over invoice" would feel if he really saw everything in the true invoice sheet. Even worse, let's look at all the guys who "pay $x,xxx less than MSRP". Christ, people need to take a class before they buy a vehicle.
