Talked to my dealer today, they said that if Toyota doesn't release anything within the next couple weeks they're going to let me move my 2018 deposit to a Tundra they have on the lot. I really don't want a Tundra, but I can't seem to find a loaded 6MT and from what I've read that Automatic is just atrocious.

It's sad since they have a loaded 2017 that's exactly the same set-up that I ordered, except an automatic. If only I could drive a Tacoma with the OVTune...

Have you driven the automatic much? Lots of dealers will let you do an extended test drive and keep the car overnight. You could drive it a bunch and see if it really bothers you much.

If you had not logged on to TW you'd be happy with the auto transmission. The issues are exaggerated. If it was "atrocious" I'd sell my truck in a heartbeat as I can afford to take the hit on the resale. I'm not selling my truck because I have no issue with the AT in the two modes Toyota gives you to run the truck in: 'economy' (default mode) and ECT (normal mode)'. Both modes have their purpose and I enjoy the benefits of having the choice. Wish it booted up in normal mode, but a fix is coming for that I believe.

I asked them if I could do an extended test drive and he said that the sales manager is against them and supposedly their insurance doesn't cover them for extended drives. I'd really like to see if I can deal with the auto, but I know I'd truly prefer the manual. Unfortunately, I don't have months to wait for the truck.

I'm in a bit of the same boat. I think I'd prefer a manual, but the DCSB OR is not available with an MT in Canada, so I had to make a choice. There are many times a month where I am very thankful I have the AT, and sometimes I wish I had the MT. Strangely, as I drive the truck more and more, especially off-road, I might even chose the AT again if I had to replace it. It's a tough descision for sure.

You do what you gotta do, but I'd find another dealer at that point.

Isn't that the truth. I test drove the automatic and liked it, then I got on the forums to read about owners experiences and read about the issues once the transmission began to learn and decided to drive a manual. I'm sure I would have been just fine with the auto, and then tuning it later.

As expected, relatively minor changes, but nothing that would make me take a 17 over 18. I'm glad they FINALLY released the details. I am quite disappointed that they didn't step into the 21st century with LED or HID headlights.

I am a little curious as to the differences between OR and PRO now. It seems like it's just grille, wheels, Fox suspension, LED fogs, exhaust, and hood scoop. Very minor differences IMO, and things that most people will customize anyway.

Still planning on picking up a loaded 18' DCSB OR in cement.

Yeah, you definitely need to drive one. People define good and bad differently. If you go in to it thinking it's shit, you're going to nitpick more than you normally would and you'll subconsciously find stuff that really isn't wrong with it.

Honestly, I really don't understand the complaints about the 3rd gen. Everyone in this forum talks about the 2nd gen as though it's amazing and as much as I love my truck, I find the 4.0 to be anemic and gas guzzling and the transmission is nothing special. I can't imagine the 3rd gen being much worse and am looking forward to the improved fit and finish in the new truck.

Rear power window button is gone. Wherever they've moved it to makes less sense to me than where it was for 2017.

If I had to take a wild guess I would think they moved it up to the overhead console by the Sunroof Controls and Sunglasses Holder.
