Lol. I think that's what he meant also but I couldn't help myself.

Here's the pictures I have with a trailer.
I've only pulled with a load twice, once was 600 miles when we picked up the white trailer with about 3k pounds of extra weight on it. It pulled fine through the hills. The second time was the red trailer and that was about 10 miles with a tractor on it, the brakes grabbed on that trailer so is was a pain. The white trailer is currently being repainted and getting a new deck as everything is still original from 1974 when it was built, then will be the true test as I'm supposed to go pick up a JD 4020 tractor and pull it 600 miles to my dads place.

The issue with big trailers is STOPPING the load. I don't doubt at all that the tacoma can pull that much weight with a gooseneck trailer, you just have to worry about stopping a big load like that. You'd be fine in a flat topography, but throw some mountainous terrain into the picture and the taco will be struggling.

Towing Gooseneck and 5th wheel does throw the bumper pull specs out the window. because it distributes the load directly over the drive axle as opposed to bumper pull which tends to have more of a cantilever effect on the weight distribution.

Yeah. Without trailer brakes I wouldn't haul much weight on a trailer, they help a lot.

I towed a Kubota B26 tractor on a car trailer. The rental shop estimated this little backhoe-loader at 4,500-5,000 and the trailer at 1,500 tare = 3 tons or a little over.

The truck (2011 4x4 4.0L V6 with factory class 4 towing package) is rated to tow 6,500 max with trailer brakes. The tilt trailer had two axles and surge brakes, not electronic trailer brakes as I would have preferred.

It went well. Never had trouble stopping and there was no serious sway. Uphills were slow but I had no problem accelerating or maintaining freeway speed.

6,000 pounds still motorboats the truck -- the approx 600-800 lbs tongue weight drops the rear a few inches -- but I was towing in daylight hours so my headlights didn't bother oncoming cars. (I'm actually here today searching for advice about Timbren vs AirLift rear suspension helpers.)

Pulling a load over about 3,500 pounds can be a rough ride. Having two axles on the trailer makes all the difference. I towed a single-axle dump trailer full of large landscaping boulders, which put it at its limit of 5,000 gross. I wouldn't want to have to pull that very far, it was bone-rattling.

How did your truck handle being 1,200 lbs overloaded?

Total tractor weight is around 6k, trailer is around 3k.
Hitch is made out of 7" deep well channel iron.
As far as how it handles? Cruising I forget it's back there. Rides great. Braking is no worse than 5k on a bumper pull. And acceleration... There's not much you can do about that but even through some hills it didn't slow me down much.

Ive towed boat, small trailers with light loads and jet ski with a 2" ball on my stock rear bumper. With the receiver ive done heavier loads, such as that toyota and pathfinder. That was a first seeing a 5th wheel behind a taco!

New personal record, rolled over the scales at 14'200lb. Only issues we're getting it moving on the wet pavement lol, trailer took care of all the stopping.

Had over 3.3t of steel alone, not including the two skids.

Had 1200lbs in my truck and then towed a 71 bronco on a uhaul trailer from Michigan to Washington. The setup on the trailer must have weighed at least 4k and we went through Yellowstone. Just took the hills slow and didn't use cruise. Filled up about 15 times to

I towed a 1992 F-150 Ext Cab LB 4x4 on an 18ft steel trailer up a 12% grade for 3.5-4 miles. Only did 35 in 3rd gear to accomplish this. I didn't want anything to break. Nothing ever got hot though. The total trip was about 42 miles. Went from 450ft above sea level up to the high desert at 2800ft above sea level.
The rear end of the Tacoma picked up off the ground when I was loading/unloading the Ford off the trailer. I would think the total weight was right at 6500lbs.

okay, I have faith in these toyotas and my brakes and heating up is a concern. I drove the truck closer to home, but it's still about 60-65 miles I have to tow it. Ive flat towed, but with the added weight of the trailer, stopping may not be that fun. I'll be on the belt road going around the island, so there's turns and hills. I'd be keeping it around 50-55 in the straight aways.
