What's the last year Toyota put a solid axle in the mini trucks?

I'm curious. I want one of these for a build...when I can afford another build.

1985.5 has fuel injection and a solid front axle

 

I was talking to a lady from Washington who thought her '86 has a solid axle. She's here in MT, but the truck is at her family's place in WA. Maybe it's the '85.5... That could be a sweet rig.

 

That's what I'd be looking for. Injection and the solid axle. Or you could always run propane on a carbed rig and that helps a lot when you're running at crazy angles.

What kind of rig are you looking to build? A rock crawler? Have you done one before?

 

I've never done a build. It would be a crawler for our local off-road park and snow wheeling. I'm just doing some recon now- trying to educate myself. It's currently not in my budget.

My gen 2 that I've bolted some stuff on is the closest work I've done to a build.

 

These are pretty easy to build and work on. It was my first ever project. Just be sure to try and get an EFI one.

There aree tons of these built and documented that doing the research should he easy.

For about $10k all-in, you can have a very capable leaf spring truck.

 

Not a pick up but the 80 series Landcruisers are solid axle and some have the factory diff lockers. Just throwing out another option for you if your looking for a solid axle yota. The prices are getting affordable. This past November i bought 2, both diff locked, for cheap. I bought the lifted/built one from a fellow TW member for $1700 as pictured.
