What's the lift limit before vibes hit?

    hey TW,
Been lurking here since I bought my 15 dcsb 4x4 in Jan. It's a SR5, has the TSS wheels. I 'need' a lift and maybe larger tires (currently has 265/65/17 on them)
So the question, has anybody figured out what the lift limit is to avoid drivetrain vibes after lifting? I just bought 5100's and I'm thinking of the 1.75 notch but want to avoid problems.
    Thanks

I'm at 2.5" on the same shocks and stock springs with 1.5" AAL in the rear, no vibrations here.

5100's at 1.75 with TRD Sport coils.
Wheelers AAL 1.5 pack in the rear.

Installed above with only 20k miles on truck.

    Instant needle bearing rumble/vibe.

My dealer replaced it under warranty yesterday, but I'm going to go ahead and buy the parts for the ECGS bushing upgrade in case it comes back.

FYI, I've read that owners with completely stock trucks have encountered the needle bearing transfer case problem.

There is no definitive answer. It's different for every truck. I had mine @ .85" for years, and had no issues until I added a 1/4" spacer.

The best answer you'll get, is if you lift be prepared for driveline issues. If you don't get any, consider it a bonus. If you do, there are many that have been through it already, and can point you to the proper fix.

I just have a hard time understanding that the vibes are so random. So I don't have any vibes now, with 26k. I would think Toyota has figured out what fails or needs modification by now.

If they cared, they would fix the needle bearing issue that started in 2005 (among other issues). Instead, they carried it over to the third gens. They care about dollars, not you. My 2015 had needle bearing vibe issues from when I picked it up with 6 miles on it. They told me "that's how they all drive".

My needle bearing was improperly installed from the factory... Maybe the reason i had the vibes at stock height.

I had 5100s at 1.75 on my truck for about 60k miles, no issues, now I have new 5100s with OME 885 coils and an AAL in the rear, 126k on the truck, no issues.

The limit is anything above stock. Any lift can trigger vibes. Whether due to bad driveline angles or the front diff needle bearing.

It's all, about proper install and shimming if needed. Then replacing the front needle bearing with the ECGS bushing.

I did a 3" suspension lift. Front needle bearing began vibrating immediately. However, since my OME kit from @HeadStrong Off-Road came with all the necessary stuff my driveline angles were damn near perfect (so says a local driveline shop).

I have a TRD Pro and an ICON progressive AAL on the rear. Sits level roughly 2" all around. That's very mild by the standards of the owners on TW, but it looks good, and has no vibes.

I had the needle bearing vibrations on 2013 DCLB Sport. Fixed it last week with the ECGS bushing. My suspension is stock. Looking to do lift this fall.
