What's the longest you've gone on a timing belt?

My timing belt was replaced at 65k miles and I'm currently at 175k. I'm planning on stretching it to 200k because I also want to get the valves checked, injectors serviced and valve cover gaskets replaced all at once. That will mean my TB will have 135k on it before being replaced. I live in TN so not a lot of harsh exposure to the elements.

How long have you gone on a single timing belt/water pump?

A buddy of mine about 10 years ago ran his to ~235,000 on the original timing belt. He said it broke pulling into work one day so he had a shop come pick it up and they had it ready by the time he got out that afternoon. I've always thought the recommended 90k interval was excessive. I think 150k is good time to replace. That just my $.02 so take it FWIW.

About 10,000 miles... Hopefully this one will get to stay on the truck a little longer.

I went 220k on my last Tacoma. Frame broke, so I don't know how much further it would have gone.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
110k on mine, still looked fine when it was replaced. Probably could've gone another 50k but it's one of those things you never know until you take it all apart.

On the 97 we had it was replaced at 200k and we sold the truck at 350k on the 2nd belt so I'd say at least 150k miles is expected... This was a truck that saw 100-150 miles per day and made many trips across the us, though. so many many highway miles.

That's pretty helpful info! That in conjunction with what a lot of other people have said gives a good range of mileage for changes. I don't even have a 3.4 and I'm happy you shared this

I recently did a timing belt on a 97 camry v6 that was original with 340k on it... Water pump locked up and shreded the belt. honestly ive never seen a belt break unless it was something locked up.

had 150k on my last one. it was cracked up pretty good. only replaced it due to the water pump leaking.

I think with most factory recommendations on replacing things, they add a cushion on the side of being overly cautious with estimates, with this in mind I view things like timing belts and tranny flushes can "usually" go reliably double what they say.

since the factory says 90k is recommended, I take that to mean it should last 180-200k miles.

that said, driving style and habits as well as weather conditions play a part in how long it lasts

236k on my 2001 4 cyl. single cab and haven't had any problems. Perhaps I should look into doing this soon as a precaution.

4 cylinders have timing chains. They don't need replaced. You got plenty to go.

I've done 100K on the Tacoma but on civics, I've replaced them between 120K-150K and it still looked good. I'd say 125K would be the most I'd go before replacement just to be on the safe side.
