What's the longest you've gone without sleep?

About 40 hours. First several were packing up my dorm room and loading the truck, then about 35 hour drive non-stop from Atlanta to Boise, ID.
Was heading for Seattle, but by the time I got to Boise and it was starting to get dark for the second night, I had to stop and sleep, then made the last 8 hours the next day.

 

Working 12 hour night shifts, every once in a while I could not get to sleep during the day and just went back the next night. Probably up about 40 or so hours. Not real pleasant.

 

We're only allowed 16 hours in a 24 hour period... but there are times where I tell d-patch to shove it when I'm at 14ish.

I've gone about 48 hours without sleep... horrrrrible. Started to hallucinate and felt like I had drank a case of beer. Not very coordinated... Also was super paranoid.

 

During boarding operations in the Phillipines It took my team 4 days to clear a cargo container ship and that was nonstop searching detainees, searching conex boxes and gathering intel. We only had the water in our camelbacks and no food. The gear we wear is about 70 pounds. I lost 14 pounds in those 4 days and after our debrief I slept almost 72 hours.

I have to say that about the 72 hour mark you slightly hallucinate and confusion begins to set in.

 

Goes to show you how different bodies react to sleep deprivation if they're trained for it. I start to hallucinate at about 36 hours.

 

Frac jobs scare me a bit....glad I don't work completions!

Mine was about 46 hours...when I was in Iraq. It sucked!

~36 hours...maybe a little more.

But I'm the type of person who needs to sleep for at least 10 hours a night to be functional the next day. I prefer 12 hours of sleep if possible.

 

5-6 days max... Extreme 6 hour energy drinks help to break through the 72 hour mark... Its tough and after you pass out and wake up your hole event will just be a fog

 

My first deployment, we went nearly 72hrs doing patrols and CASEVAC. After awhile, you aren't tired any more, that's the dangerous part, it's a mix of psychosis and necessity.

 

You start to forget simple things... Loose track of what you are doing...

 

i think it was like 52h with no sleep at all. i was 15. ended up sleeping for a day and half. just got up to pee 2 times and go back to sleep

 

Stayed up with the help of adderol and energy drinks for almost 72 hrs last finals week, but then I crashed for a couple days it was misserable.

4 days straight with a security team leading repair line trucks from 5 states into hurricaine damage areas from Beaufort SC all the way up to Wilmington NC after Hurricaine Floyd. It sucked.

 

when i was 11 or 12 i stayed up two nights in a row and on the third day i would fall asleep in the middle of my sentence

 

Went five days with no cat naps at all because of steroids once(medical).

 

Longest for me is about 72 hrs. Working night shifts and switching to days for my off time ended up giving me insomnia. Got that fixed with some ambien.

 

Yea I know a lot of people that don't remember what they do. At my base the military pretty much just gives it out to anyone who has a hard time sleeping though. Luckily my insomnia for the most part is gone. Not sleeping kills the body pretty badly.
