Brand new CV axle has a pinhole in the boot. Axle not two weeks old. But when you push on the folds of the boot hard enough, you can get a real small amount of black grease to come out. I want the lazy way out and not replace the whole gd axle again.

Do you know of any sealants / adhesives / other compounds that could seal off the pinhole leak? Needs to be grease resistant, waterproof, and very flexible. Thanks in advance.

3m Window Weld. I had a pin hole leak on my lower ball joint boot and dabbed this stuff on it. No grease in sight. Make sure you clean the area real good before using it and dont get it on your hands.

Yo. Thanks a lot for that info. If you used it on a ball joint, certainly should be tough enuff for the axle boot.

The same shit everyone else has.
I had a similar situation. I ended up using black rtv to patch a pin hole in a cab boot.

@steveo27 : May I ask what a cab boot is? And has the black RTV held up well? Thanks. I have a tube of Black RTV already, or go spend $25 on the Windo-Weld. Windo-Weld would probably take a bit more stress and pressure.

Black RTV holds up really well. I use it when I really want something to stay put.

Typo. It should say CV boot, but it autocorrected to cab.

I would replace the CV boot kit. Approx $20

Any time I've tried to patch something like that with whatever black RTV type of sealant I have on hand, it never works. It doesn't adhere and just falls off.
Especially on a CV boot that has to be flexible and constantly moves.

Sealants are often used on stationary parts. Like between metal to metal on engine covers.

Did you use a cheapshit axle brand?
If it's faulty new, they should warranty it
I don't know if it's something where a pebble can hit it and put a hole in it; I've never had that happen, nor do I think a boot would be designed so poorly that it'd be susceptible to that
